Fifty years after Jonathan Joestar's death, his grandson Joseph Joestar learns of Speedwagon's death by Straizo's hand.

After transforming into a vampire, Straizo clashes with the cunning Joseph in the streets of New York.

Joseph investigates Speedwagon's whereabouts in Mexico, and eventually fights a Pillar Man named Santana.

Joseph is taken to Rome to meet Ripple user Caesar Anthonio Zeppeli. The two attempt to fight the reawakened Pillar Men: Wamuu, Esidisi and Kars.

Joseph and Caesar begin their arduous training at Air Supplena Island under Ripple master Lisa Lisa, owner of the coveted Red Stone of Aja.

Joseph, now a proficient Ripple user, battles the devious Esidisi in a hot-blooded game of wits.

Esidisi survives his fight with Joseph as a brain and nervous system, and uses Lisa Lisa's maid to steal the Red Stone of Aja.

Joseph, Caesar, and Lisa Lisa pursue the Red Stone of Aja to Switzerland, where they suddenly encounter Kars and a cyborg Rudol von Stroheim.

Joseph and Kars race toward the cliff of a ravine as the Red Stone of Aja slips toward the edge.

Caesar enters the Pillar Men's lair, where he and Wamuu have their long-awaited rematch.

Joseph, Lisa Lisa, Wamuu, and Kars agree to duel each other at the Skeleton Heel Stone. The ensuing chariot duel between Joseph and Wamuu pushes both fighters to the edge.

Kars incapacitates Lisa Lisa and unleashes his army on Joseph, but Stroheim and the Speedwagon Foundation come to the rescue.

An exhausted Joseph battles Kars, who has taken Lisa Lisa hostage. Though Joseph saves his master, Kars manages to transform into the Ultimate Thing.

As Kars celebrates his new invincibility, Joseph desperately struggles to defeat his immortal enemy.
