Cream (クリーム, Kurīmu) est le Stand de Vanilla Ice, figurant dans la troisième partie de JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Stardust Crusaders. Cream est un Stand humanoïde monstrueux dont la bouche mène à une dimension des ténèbres. Si Cream s'avale lui-même, alors il devient une sphère de vide destructrice.

Apparence

Cream est un Stand humanoïde assez grand et musclé. Il n'a pas de lèvre et exhibe ses dents acérés constamment. Il porte aussi une cagoule de bourreau. Deux cornes sortent de son masque et comme Atum et The World, le corps de Cream est décoré avec des coeurs. Quand il utilise son pouvoir, Cream disparaît de ce monde et s'entoure d'une sphère de vide invisible et qui détruit tout ce qu'elle touche. Pour cela, il faut que Cream se mange comme un Ouroboros.

Son design est basé sur l'imagerie populaire sur les bourreaux et le mort. Araki s'est inspiré de bourreaux français de l'époque médiévale.[1]

Pouvoirs

Cream est un Stand de courte portée assez puissant. Parmi ses exploits physiquement parlant, on peut noter qu'il peut décapiter facilement une personne avec le tranchant de sa main.[2] Cependant, c'est son pouvoir du vide, qui détruit tout ce que Cream touche, qui en fait l'un des Stands les plus dangereux de Stardust Crusaders.

Vide

A deadly mix of invisibility and erasure

Cream is able to become a portal to a void-like dimension, which Vanilla Ice mainly uses to disintegrate everything in its path and hide in.

The real portal is situated in Cream's mouth, so its modus operandi is to devour itself and its user to become a ball-shaped floating portal.[3]

Because Cream functions as a portal that indiscriminately transports matter to another dimension, it has incredible offensive power because it can effectively disintegrate everything and cut clean through them. Only Vanilla Ice is shown to be unharmed when inside the void dimension[4] and can also undo Cream's self-devouring if needed.[5]

When entering its void state, Cream is invulnerable and almost undetectable as it exists in another dimension: it cannot be seen, heard, or even smelled by Iggy.[4] Despite this, Polnareff is able to detect it by scattering sand inside the room and following the trail the devouring sphere leaves.[6] The void sphere is shown to be rather fast as it was capable of pursuing Polnareff as he ran.[4]

However, becoming a sphere has one major drawback. Although it is invisible, Vanilla Ice is also blind to his surroundings and must regularly take a peek, leaving himself briefly vulnerable to attack.[6]

Détails

  • Cream was not given a proper name until a few years after Part 3's publication, where it was revealed in JoJo6251.
  • There's a pun where if "Vanilla Ice" (Cream's user) is placed in front of "Cream", the result are the words, "vanilla ice cream".
    • Additionally, with the Capcom game changing its user's name to Iced, it created a variation of the pun: iced cream. And with the English version of All Star Battle changing the name again to Cool Ice, the pun now has another variation: cool ice cream.

  • Since Cream is the only major Stand in Part 3 not to be based off a Tarot or Egyptian god, on the official anime's website, its tarot card is represented by a blank grey card with a black orb in the middle; depicting Cream's void form.[7]
    • The Capcom game gives Cream and Tenore Sax their own Tarot cards, created specifically for the occasion.
  • If not counting Tenore Sax, Cream is the first Stand in the series to have a name that references to a musician, a band, an album, or a song from American, Australian, British, and European music scenes.
