Stone Free (ストーン・フリー, Sutōn Furī), abrégé en S.F. (Ｓ・Ｆ), est le Stand de Jolyne Cujoh, figurant dans Stone Ocean.

Pour Jolyne, Stone Free est surtout une capacité de dérouler son corps en une longue ficelle, mais le Stand a aussi une forme de Stand de courte portée humanoïde.

Apparence

Stone Free est un Stand humanoïde qui a la même taille et la même carrure que Jolyne.

Stone Free porte des lunettes de soleil plus ou moins opaques qui cachent des yeux striés verticalement. Sa tête est aussi décoré avec quatre petites crêtes fines qui vont de sa bouche à l'arrière de sa tête. A la place des oreilles, Stone Free a aussi des sorte de cônes tronqués qui sortent de sa tête.

Il porte des épaulières elliptiques décoré avec un motif de peau de serpent ainsi que des genouillères hexagonales. Certaines parties de son corps (comme le cou, les épaules, les muscles du bras, les doigts, etc...) révèlent un intérieur fibreux, montrant qu'il est fait de fils. Son front, son cou, ses bras, et son estomac sont cloutés de façon régulière.

Stone Free est en fait composé de ficelles dont la texture rappelle la soie et qui sent le savon, apparemment.[1]

La plupart des médias montrent Stone Free comme étant de couleur cyan, même si la ficelle est blanche.

Selon Jolyne, Stone Free est une Stand femelle.[2]

Stone Free est Stand de courte portée unique car il peut à la fois être invoqué comme un Stand normal ou bien donne à Jolyne des capacités surhumaines. Le Stone Free de Jolyne est un Stand puissant et rapide, ce qui en fait un bon Stand pour les combats au corps à corps. De plus, son pouvoir avec la ficelle lui donne une grande versatilité qui donne à Jolyne une grande panoplie d'options lorsqu'elle se bat.

When Stone Free's string is completely wound or compacted, it is very strong; the destructive force of its punch roughly equivalent to that exerted by a small, extremely fast meteor.[1] It is also fast enough to deflect several bullets aimed at it.[3] It is important to note that due to Stone Free's integrated ability of her own body becoming her stand power, Jolyne has been shown to be able to physically touch and harm stands, despite herself being human.[4]

String Decomposition

Stone Free enables Jolyne to unravel her body into string, typically beginning with her hands,[5] and freely manipulate it.[6]

Stone Free's string is invisible to non-Stand Users[6] but it is portrayed inconsistently. It is also sharp as it can slice through flesh when pulled violently enough.[5] On the other hand, the string is not particularly strong and may snap if strained too much,[6] although Jolyne can create a stronger rope out of several strings. With enough precision, the string can pickpocket small objects that way.[7] The string can contract and expand like muscles, allowing Stone Free to control the grip a string has.

If Jolyne gathers the string and meshes it, she can concentrate her power and form Stone Free's humanoid appearance, who may fight in her stead,[8] but Stone Free's range is shortened to around 2 meters.[9] Stone Free, composed of strings, can naturally be unraveled too.[2]

Jolyne may unravel around 70% of her body harmlessly, as well as quickly rewind. It notably allows her to be supernaturally flexible and be able to hide in cramped spaces like someone's mouth.[10] At harm to herself, Jolyne may also cut her string for a further variety of applications. Stone Free's maximum range, unraveled to 70%, is about 24 meters, as long as the string's length.[1][11]

Stone Free's string manipulation makes it exceptionally versatile in battle. With the string, Jolyne is able to:

  • Eavesdrop on distant conversations in the form of sound vibrations through her string by the same principles behind the tin can telephone[5] but also converse through them.[12]
  • Slice people with the sharpness of the strings.[5]
  • Pickpocket small objects.[7]
  • Weave a tight net instantly strong enough to stop bullets to protect herself.[13][14]
  • Create a large net to capture enemies.[15]
  • Tie people up for various uses, mainly pulling them in range[3] or choking them.[6][16]
  • Stitch her wounds.[17]
  • Deploy a "string barrier" to detect movements over a large area.[18]
  • Create complex patterns to the point where Stone Free can make a portrait.[19]
  • Swing from place to place.[20]
  • Counteract C-Moon's ability to turn things inside-out, by meshing affected areas of her body into a Möbius strip.[21]
