Hirohiko Araki's Manga Techniques - Continued (続・荒木飛呂彦の漫画術, Zoku Araki Hirohiko no Manga-jutsu) is a book written by Hirohiko Araki. It is a sequel to the book Hirohiko Araki's Manga Techniques, in which Araki discusses the "golden path" to creating manga more in-depth.

It was published in JOJO magazine 2022 WINTER and released on December 19, 2022. It was announced in the December 2022 issue of Ultra Jump on November 17, 2022.[1] The second part released in JOJO magazine 2023 WINTER on December 19, 2023.[2]

Summary

Araki delves deeper into his "trade secrets" and discusses how to create villains, as charming villains are the key to a good manga. He also reviews the four basic structures of manga and what to do when one has trouble creating a character. Araki suggests creating the main character and villain at the same time. Although he lost Dio Brando's original character sheet that he made before JoJo's Bizarre Adventure was serialized, he created a new one through memory and shares it as an example of what to consider for a character's background. He talks about character deaths and suggests that authors shouldn't let their feelings be involved when determining whether a character should die or not if it goes against the natural flow of the story. Recently, Araki has wanted to portray villains more realistically rather than simply being strong. He mentions how the film Joker (2019) depicts Arthur as a realistic villain who the audience could relate to since the character's circumstances are shown. Araki ends with discussing how he wrote and developed the villains of each part of JoJo.
