Ebony Devil
Ebony Devil (エボニーデビル(悪魔), Ebonī Debiru) is the Stand of Devo the Cursed, featured in the third part of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series, Stardust Crusaders. It activates once its User is injured by an attacker and turns his hatred of them into power to possess nearby physical objects, such as a doll, allowing its User to control it remotely.
Appearance
Ebony Devil's base design is based on the ancient Sardinian dolls known as "bronzetti", specifically "The Warrior", a small, bronze statue. It has filiform limbs, an alien head with four eyes and two long horns. It also has two disks in front of its chest and holds a dagger in its hand.
The doll it possesses is stated by Araki to resemble an African shaman and is distinctive and primal in appearance.[1]

Personality
Ebony Devil is operated remotely, reflecting Devo's sadistic personality in the possessed object as it mimics his maniacal and vulgar tendencies. This shown as the User having tactful acumen over Polnareff in his Stand's possessed form while frequently mocking to an obscene degree at his predicament.
It represents the tarot card The Devil, which symbolizes confusion and misfortune.[2] In addition, the doll it possesses was inspired by Chucky from the film Child's Play, as well as other horror movies.[1]
Abilities
Ebony Devil is risky in that Devo must be injured by his targets first in order for it to activate its ability. However, when set up, it can be useful for tactfully ambushing its victim and proves to be elusive in assassinations.
Cursed Object Possession
Ebony Devil's power is fueled by the User's own innate grudge against his intended victim, which automatically triggers its ability upon sustaining major damage from them.[2]
His Stand can then possess something physical for Devo to remotely operate in order to attack, preferably a doll of his which he keeps closely as a proxy for him to use.[3] Much like other remote Stands, Ebony Devil allows its User to manipulate the possessed doll from a safe distance and observe through its eyes, in addition to being able to physically interact with enemy Stands and gaining razor sharp teeth hard enough to bite through them. Any weapon which the possessed object wields also becomes a part of the Stand, as the doll manages to injure Silver Chariot (and therefore Polnareff) using a straight razor, a spear, and even a broken bottle.[4] This, in combination with his prior intended injuries to activate his Stand and drop his opponent's guard, allows Devo the opportunity to attack his victim with swift ambush tactics; starting quietly and setting traps without raising suspicion, before causing as much misfortune to his victim as necessary.[5]
One drawback to Ebony Devil is that it is physically weak in comparison to other enemy Stands like Silver Chariot; to which it is more favorable for assassinations and surprise attacks than in a direct fight. In addition, any damage to the possessed object is reflected on the User directly; when Jean Pierre Polnareff dices the doll, Devo himself was killed.[2]
