GioGio's Bizarre Adventure (ジョジョの奇妙な冒険 黄金の旋風, JoJo no Kimyō na Bōken Ōgon no Kaze, lit. "GioGio's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Whirlwind") is an action-adventure video game released in 2002 for the PlayStation 2, based on Vento Aureo. It is also the first JoJo game to be rendered in 3D graphics.
Vento Aureo's graphics can be compared to other cel-shaded games of the PS2 era like Jet Set Radio. The developer, Capcom, utilized a game engine called "Artistoon" in order to create a graphical style similar to Araki's art style in the manga.
Most of GioGio's Bizarre Adventure's gameplay takes place in the form of hand-to-hand combat. All battles are fought 1v1, with every battle being an equivalent to a boss fight. The Stands aid the characters in battle by giving them combat abilities, as well as special attacks. Puzzles are also a part of the game, requiring the use of Stands in order to solve them.
The player must learn an opponent's moves and attack patterns in order to properly find an opening and attack. They can deliver melee attacks, use a character-exclusive special ability, or summon their Stand to attack. Stand barrages and the like are referred to in-game as a "Stand Shoot". All Stand Shoot attacks can be charged to increase their duration and eventually allow the player to attack separate from their Stand, opening up opportunities to create combos. Health cannot be restored in any matter other than Secret Factors, requiring a finer degree of skill from the player than other games of similar genre in order to succeed.
As long as a character's Stand is on, a Stand Gauge above the player's health will drain. Actions such as taking damage or blocking attacks while a Stand is on will also decrease the meter. A Stand Break occurs if the gauge empties, leaving the player without their Stand or its abilities until the gauge refills, along with other situational disadvantages.
Chapters have a letter grading based on the performance of the player, with up to 200 "GioGio Points" to be earned per chapter and 10,200 GioGio Points to be earned in the entire game. A rank is lost with every 25 points missing, from S at 200 - 190 points, A at 189 - 176, all the way to E at 100 and below. All Secret Factors on a level collectively add up to 100 GioGio Points, and are added with the percentage of the player's remaining health to make up to 200.
Game Modes
Super Story Mode (SS Mode): The player follows the journey of Team Bucciarati through the events of Vento Aureo, beginning with Giorno's meeting with Bucciarati all the way to the final battle with Diavolo. There are cutscenes between stages and during some fights.
Another Story: A secret mode that is unlocked when the player completes Super Story Mode. In this mode the player replays battles from SS Mode, but is now able to select different characters for that stage, regardless of whether or not they made an appearance in the canon fight. To unlock fights for Another Story Mode, the player must beat the respective fight in Super Story with at least a B ranking (or 150/200 GioGio Points).
Gallery: A Mode that has JoJo goodies based on how many JoJo points the player have. This mode is not initially available and completing at least one SS Mode fight is required to unlock it. The Gallery contains extras such as soundtracks, Stage Viewer, Story Drama, concept art, images, and characters models (for playable, unplayable, and unused characters). The Gallery Mode is set inside the Stand Mr.President.
Options: Sound and control options.
Secret Factors
A main notable feature is the activation of Secret Factors, various interaction activated elements scattered throughout each scenario that the player progresses to as the game goes on. Considered as side-objectives, chapters can have anywhere between none to four Secret Factors to be done. As the game itself is adapted nearly entirely from the manga, playing out the scenario akin to the official canon will activate these factors, and their effects: giving power-ups to health, Stand endurance, and strength to the character, as well as heavily influencing chapter grading. A counter over the heart next to the player's health displays the Secret Factor level, with 10 being the maximum; At max, the health and Stand gauges will have doubled in length. There are multiple occasions where Secret Factors must be done in a specific order to achieve them all. Many Secret Factors also give the player advantages ranging from invulnerability to/disabling certain enemy attacks to outright winning the battle instantly. They are a unique feature that also celebrate the game's source material and reward fans and readers of the series.
Super Story (SS Mode)
Following the events of Part 5, the game's main mode has 22 chapters (21 playable and only 1 featuring a full cutscene). In each chapter the player faces a different opponent.
Starting the Super Story for the first time, gives the player a summary of part 1-4 to remind fans of the series, as well as inform new comers. After the title, there is a chatbox cutscene between Luca and Giorno, where Luca demands payment from Giorno. A counter attack is said to be made, with no details on how. Luca collapses, and Giorno walks away. A new cutscene starts and Giorno then meets Bruno, who wants to interrogate Giorno on what happened to Luca, starting the level. "Bucciarati's Arrival, part 1", acts as a tutorial level, recreating Giorno and Bruno's first fight in the Trolley. The tutorial teaches the player how to dodge, and strike. As well as teaching how to summon your Stand, use its special move, toggle Stand mode to guard, and Stand rush. And lastly, that Secret Factors will increase the players health. All this is performed on Bucciarati.
There are Four Secret Factors in this level..
1.Stand shooting or rushing Bruno activates a cutscene, recreating the moment Giorno punches Bruno in the face knocking out his tooth. As Bruno describes the intense pain this is causing. This factor rewords a +4.
2.Stand shooting or rushing Bruno rewards the player with a +1.
3.Stand shooting Sticky Fingers, while it's not blocking, activates another cutscene. This time of Giorno on the ground with Gold Experience after hitting Bruno. Thinking to himself that he has no choice but to use Gold Experience on Bruno, or else he may die. This rewards the player with a +3.
4. Stand shooting any fire extinguisher, will turn it into a Snake that attacks Bruno. This rewards the player with a +2.
None of these need to be done in a specific order. When all are achieved, Health will be MAX.
"Bucciarati's Arrival, part 2", starts with a cutscene of Bruno injured, after his punch from Giorno. He then escapes through a Zipper, with Giorno following suit, before he can get away. The level requires the player to chase after Bruno, each time he goes through a Zipper and teleports to another part of the map. The players goal is to damage Buciarati enough, to activate a cutscene, where he hides in a stranger. And then to find the stranger, and finally beat Buciarati. The level ends with a cutscene between Giorno and Bruno, where Giorno states he believes Bruno is a good person, and recruits him, in his goal of becoming a Gangstar and the new boss of Passione
There are Four Secret Factors in this level..
1.Is Stand shooting any object, turning it into a Snake. This rewards the player, with a +1.
2.After Bruno hides in a stranger, you must stand shoot or rush the incorrect stranger. This rewards the player with a +1.
3.The next Secret Factor is to stand shoot Bruno's tooth on the ground next to where he went missing. It is very hard to see at first glance, but it should be a White spot on the ground. This activates a cutscene, where Giorno turns it into a Fly. It then will follow the correct stranger. This rewards the player with +5.
4. Is hitting the correct stranger, revealing Bruno. This rewards the player with a +3
Stand shooting an object can be done at anytime, but the last Three, must be done in the order above, or they will not work. When all are achieved, Health will be MAX.
"Gang Enrollment" begins with a chatbox cutscene of Giorno visiting Polpo in his Prison Cell, so he may go through the initiation, of joining Passione. Polpo gives him a lighter, and tells him to keep it lit for 24 hours, and return it the next day. Another cutscene plays out, and a Janitor at Giorno's school accidentally puts out the lighter. He however relights it for Giorno, who turns around to find the man dead, after getting his Skull pierced with and Arrow from the Stand, Black Sabbath. It then notices Giorno, thus starting the fight. The fight requires Giorno, to try and attack Black Sabbath, whilst also avoiding its grab attacks. Once Black Sabbath has the Player it pulls out the stand. Not breaking free of the grab, results in the stand being pierced, and Health being taken away. It can grab the player through the shadows cast by parts of the map, its lunging at the player or the Stand, and the large shadows of birds above. Once Black Sabbath is beaten a cutscene plays of Black Sabbath deteriorating in the sun. A chatbox cutscene plays where Giorno returns the Lighter to Polpo. He is then made a member of Passione. Unknown to Polpo, Giorno transformed one of his Guns into a Banana, which he then tried to eat , resulting in Polpo accidentally shooting himself through the mouth, killing him. Giorno did this, for allowing the Janitor, someone not involved in the initiation, to be killed. And Polpo showing he had no remorse, in an event like that occurring.
There are Four Secret Factors in this level
1.Attack Black Sabbath while it is out in the light. This will damage it after the attack. Rewarding the player with a +3.
2.Is attacking Black Sabbath in the Shadow. Doing this will activate a cutscene, where Black Sabbath goes into the Shadow. Showing Giorno how it works. This rewards the player with a +2
3.Is to attack Black Sabbath again in the light, this will activate another cutscene where Black Sabbath enters the Shadow screaming. This confirms Giorno's theory on its weakness. This rewards the player another +3.
4. Hit any of the Pillars, to knock them down, this will allow more sunlight in the map. This rewards the player with another +2.
None of these need to be done in a specific order. Though Secret Factor 3, will only happen after Secret Factor 1. is achieved. When all are achieved, Health will be MAX.

He and his gangs first mission, is protecting the daughter of the boss, Trish Una. Who is being chased by a rogue group of Passione. After accepting, Trish asks Narancia to go downtown to pick up various things for her. Narancia while downtown, comes across a member of the rogue group after Trish. Formaggio, and his Stand "Little Feet, with him revealing himself, the fight begins. The fight requires the player to stand stationary, while Aerosmith is summoned, and is used to attack Formaggio. The player has to shoot at him while he runs around shrunken down and at times disguised as a Rat, or hiding in Boxed and Trash cans. Aerosmith can fire bullets, Stand shoot, fire missiles, and Stand rush. It has a very short reload time . Formaggio's form of attack is running around shrunken and trying to make his way to the player, or chasing Aerosmith, so he can swipe at either and shrink them. Once shrunken, he can either stomp the player, or grab and throw the player to the ground. Once beaten, a cut scene will activate where Narnacia shoots Formaggio to death. Formaggio then tells Narancia, that more of group will come for him and his gang. He then dies, with Narancia weakened and upset, saying the mission to get Trish's things was not a success.
There are Four Secret Factors in this level
1.Stand shoot a Rat, there is no specific rat to Stand Shoot, any will work. This will reward the player with a +2.

He then meets the man in the Mirror, named Illuso, who says he has brought Fugo in the "World Of The Mirrors" and wants to location of the Key, starting the Level. The Level consists mainly of the player running and avoiding attacks, for a full Two minutes. However the controls for the Illuso levels, are inverted, as they are inside a Mirror. Abbacchio says to him that he wants to help Fugo too, but the Key is more important right now. Giorno still refuses. Abbacchio tells him that they can't afford to lose all Three of them, and that they must go. Giorno refuses again, and Abbacchio decides to go by himself, while Giorno stays back. Abbacchio then finds the Dog Mosaic, but is caught by Illuso, who brings him into the Mirror World, starting the fight. The objective of the fight, is to get Illuso down to the amount of Health indicated on the Health bar. All of Illuso's attacks are the same. Except for a new tactic, where Illuso will switch to the regular World, in which the player must summon their Stand "Moody Blues" who will show up in the regular World and attack Illuso there. After the fight, another chatbox cutscene is activated, where Fugo becomes concerned for Giorno. Coco Jumbo has a Stand, and the Stand manifests as a small Room, with a TV, a Fridge, some Magazines, and a few Couches. However on the Train, are two more enemies, both looking for Bruno and his gang. One of them summons their Stand "Grateful Dead" and uses it to age everyone into Elderly People. Narancia and the others begin getting effected, so Mista and Bruno get out and look for the people causing this. Unbeknownst to him, part of Mista's Stand, "Sex Pistols" Stopped the Bullet. One of the other enemies "Pesci" discovers the Turtle, that the Gang are hiding in. It is picked up by Bucciarati, who realizes Prosciutto is aging people through their Body Temperatures, and that Ice might be the way to prevent it. This does not assist in the Gameplay, but is a recreation of the Scene in the Manga where it is concluded to be the reason. This rewards the player anothe +2.
3.Stand Shoot the wall facing the Top Left corner of the screen. This will open a large Zipper Hole and activate a cutscene, where Prosciutto notices it, and deduces Bruno's plan with it. This rewards the player a +3.

Bucciarati then exits, and Pesci now wants revenge, for Prosciutto's death, beginning the fight. The consists of the player avoiding and breaking the hold of Pesci's Stand "Beach Boy", and avoiding his up close attacks, until his Health bar is depleted. Pesci's attacks consist of using his Stand, which is a Fishing Rod, to catch the player if they are far enough away. He will then either Reel the player in, or Reel the player in and Kick them. He also will sometimes send the Line into the ground and chase the player, as the Hook can travel through People and Objects. And if the player is close enough, Pesci will hit the player a couple times with the Rod itself. Another thing the player needs to look out for, is the body of Prosciutto, who is on the verge of Dying, but is still alive for now. He will occasionally activate Grateful Dead's ability, and age the player, taking away Health. Once all of Pesci's Health is gone, a cutscene will play, where an injured Pesci, threatens to smash the Turtle, and Kill everyone inside. Bruno stops him, by Stand Rushing him, and shouting his Stand Cry "ARIARIARIARIARIARIARIARIARI!" finishing it off with the "Arrivederci."

Mista is on top of the Car while Giorno drives it. The objective is to last for Two Minutes, and prevent Ghiaccio from getting close enough to the Car to slam into it, damaging the Car and taking Health. A handful of characters do not appear in the Super Story Mode; They appear as part of the Story Drama, during cutscenes or simply as character models within Gallery Mode.
Polpo, like in canon, does not appear in any battle, making his appearances in cutscenes.
Coco Jumbo appears during some cutscenes, usually held by the characters as more of an item.
Koichi Hirose is completely removed from the story. Footage from early builds of the game have him with Echoes ACT3 as complete models, but he was dropped before the game's release.
DIO appears in the game's opening cutscene as a photo inside Giorno's wallet.
International Release
The game was set to be released worldwide on October 2002 and was presented at Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2002, titled simply as GioGio's Bizarre Adventure. The release was eventually cancelled due to unknown reasons, the surmised culprit being copyright issues.
A fan-initiated translation project was developed to completely translate the Capcom game into English. The English patch is a combined effort of the groups Joey Jojo's Wacky Trip and JoJo's Colored Adventure Team.[1] It was released on October 20th, 2018.[2]
Reception
On release Famitsu magazine scored the game a 31 out of 40.
Polnareff's theme in the game is an orchestrated version of his theme from Heritage for the Future.
This is the first game in its time to mention every previous JoJo protagonist from Parts 1 to 5, as Jonathan, Joseph (Part 3 appearance), Jotaro (Part 4 appearance), and Josuke appear as transparent visions above Giorno representing his inheriting their "golden spirit."
Some of the voice actors on GioGio PS2 return to provide their voices to other characters in All Star Battle.
This game marks the second time anything related to Part 5 appears in other media. The first time was with Chariot Requiem's appearance during Polnareff's Level 3 super in Heritage for the Future.
Beta pictures show Giorno with a different model, particularly visible in his face. He was polished before the game's release.
