In the TV Drama, the editor nearly falls victim to "kushagara". He was affected by the word but couldn't find its meaning. To relieve himself of his nagging curiosity, he passed on the word to Jugo in a list of forbidden words and then secluded himself from the world in a warehouse near where he lived, telling his parents not to tell anyone. However, Kyoka Izumi finds him. Although he's not overtaken by "kushagara", he's become somewhat unstable in his efforts to forget the word.

Realizing that their borrowing limit is five books per person, they devise a plan to check out ten volumes together to maximize their progress. Lamenting their limited allowance from their mom, they acknowledge they could never afford to buy the entire series themselves and resolve to rely on the library to read everything. Their excitement for Pink Dark Boy overpowers any concern for the library's rumors of the red bookmark, though Rohan isn't sure if they are even aware of it.
Later, at the counter, Rohan spots them checking out volumes 27 through 36 of his manga. He wonders if they had to deal with the embodiment of Curiosity just like he did, and somehow provided their own answer. He smirks, recognizing their dedication. While they hadn't spent a single cent on his work, their enthusiasm amuses Rohan, since those volumes contained some of his best storytelling.
Over two years, she dedicates herself to solving the equation, uncovering cryptic numerical traces left by past researchers in historical records, paintings, and public broadcasts. Realizing she is part of a centuries-long effort, she continues the calculations despite the mounting psychological toll. As she nears a solution, the sensation of being watched intensifies to a disturbing level, affecting her daily life. She becomes increasingly paranoid, unable to be alone or tolerate open spaces, yet remains fixated on completing the equation.
One night at 2:17 AM, she successfully substitutes the final constant, producing a solution. Expecting something significant to occur, she waits—but nothing happens. Disappointed yet undeterred, she plans to revisit her work the next day. However, as she prepares to leave, she notices that all the text around her had transformed into numbers. Her name on the sign-out sheet, book spines, labels, and even digital screens had become numerical sequences. When all the numbers change to a "5," she realizes it is a countdown. In a panic, she attempts to erase all traces of the equation, ultimately tearing out the first page and swallowing it as the countdown reaches "0." However, she ends up falling into a coma.
For three years, she remains unconscious, her condition deteriorating with no medical explanation. Rohan finds out about her from Chikamori and visits her in the hospital, believing she is the daughter of a wealthy family since she has stayed in a private room in the hospital for three years. Upon reading her memories through Heaven's Door, Rohan learns that the missing half of the equation had been inside her stomach all along, unknowingly preventing anyone, including her boyfriend, from completing it. After erasing her knowledge of the equation by tearing out the pages, Rohan leaves her hospital room just as she begins to stir awake for the first time in years. Chikamori then enters her room with a bouquet of yellow gerbera daisies and gasps when seeing her awake.
After Rohan realizes that he is getting younger due to Okamisama and that his debt was piling up from the taxi ride, he tries getting the driver to stop. However, there is nowhere for the driver to stop on the highway. Rohan tries ripping the receipt, but it redirects the damage to his forehead, causing his blood to spill all over the car seat. The driver angrily demands that Rohan pays him 50,000 yen to replace the car seat. When Okamisama adds that debt to Rohan's receipt, the driver's anger instantly vanishes.
Eventually, Rohan sees a sign for a service area and orders the taxi driver to stop over there. The driver is confused seeing a child where an adult passenger had once been and hesitates but ultimately obeys. The moment they stop, Rohan uses Heaven's Door on the driver to unleash a brutal series of punches on Rohan, beating him just enough so that he won't die, avoiding his eyes and hands so he can still draw manga. If Rohan were to take legal action, the driver could be liable for a massive settlement fee, potentially exceeding 500,000 yen. With this "future payment" now secured, Rohan offers the taxi driver a way out. He presents the Okamisama receipt and proposes that they settle things here and now, wiping away both the taxi fare and the debt he accumulated. Though initially confused, the driver, wracked with guilt, hesitates before accepting. The moment he agrees, the infants that had been relentlessly pursuing Rohan stop their debt collection and vanish. Rohan's body returns to an adult size and the injuries inflicted by the driver remain, but the driver has no memory of doing the assault. He assumes that Rohan must have been in a fight before entering the taxi and doesn't want to be dragged into Rohan's mess.

Rohan has no intention of reporting the criminals since he wasn't a policeman nor someone who cared for justice. However, as a manga artist, he could not overlook them disrespecting art. With Heaven's Door, he writes an order that they treat all works with the utmost respect. Some things he read in their books made him angry, but he feels it was valuable information for drawing a realistic criminal character, as he learned their methods and how they strayed from a proper life.[5]
Kyoka's father loves traveling. At some point, he visits Paris, France and takes a photo in front of the Louvre Pyramid.[5] At age 5, he passes away after battling cancer.[6] Kyoka keeps that photo of him with her and asks Emma Noguchi to take a similar photo of her in front of the Louvre Pyramid. She strikes a similar pose as him so she can connect the two photos side by side.[5]

Rohan is angry at them for scaring away a rare Japanese mitten crab he was waiting to see for his research. Learning that Rohan is a manga artist, the older man suggests that he should just look up images of the crab on the internet. After Rohan angrily explains how he needs realism for his manga, the men attempt to take their leave. However, Rohan stops them, using Heaven's Door to read their biographies. He writes a command in them saying to "watch the sea for Rohan", so that he won't be disturbed by them in the future.
