Chapter 47
New York's Joseph Joestar (3), originally Painful News in the WSJ release, is the forty-seventh chapter of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure manga. It is also the third chapter of Battle Tendency.
Summary
Joseph is almost run over by a taxi while crossing the road. He starts threatening the driver, but is cut short when his grandmother, Erina Joestar, asks what he is doing. Joseph quickly covers up the situation by saying he hailed them a taxi. The three of them get in and head to a restaurant. On the way, Smokey learns that Joseph is the grandson of Jonathan Joestar, and the Joestar men have a tendency to live short lives. Joseph asks about Erina's relationship with Speedwagon, implying that they may be romantically involved, and Erina responds by beating him with her umbrella.
At the restaurant, a brass knuckles-bearing gangster insults Smokey. At Erina's behest, Joseph confronts and defeats him easily. The gangster's companion reveals himself to be an agent sent from the Speedwagon Foundation and tells Joseph that Speedwagon has been killed.
