The Remains Lurk, Part 1 (忍びよる残骸 その①, Shinobi Yoru Zangai Sono 1), originally The Lurking Devil! (忍び寄る魔!, Shinobiyoru Ma!) in the WSJ and tankobon releases, is the thirty-seventh chapter of Battle Tendency and the eighty-first chapter of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure manga.

Summary

After defeating Esidisi, Joseph exits the arena, shrugging off his back pain and unaware that Esidisi's remains hang onto his back. In the castle, Lisa Lisa prepares to take a bath. However, she fears that Joseph and Caesar are taking too long. She requests that Suzi Q send JoJo and Caesar to her room when they return. Suzi Q leaves, but then gets sneaked up on by JoJo, scaring her as it's the first time seeing him without his Ripple Breathing Mask, making him hard to recognise at first. The two flirt with each other while, unbeknownst to them, Esidisi moves from JoJo onto Suzi Q.

It is now 6am, and JoJo approaches Lisa Lisa's room while she bathes, him deciding to peek through the keyhole to which he celebrates upon seeing her naked. On relook however, he notices that Suzi Q had suddenly appeared inside the room impossibly fast from where Joseph had saw her last, and he realizes that the door knob is coated in a sticky substance. A postal boat is shown speeding away from Venice's dock, and Lisa Lisa notices that the Red Stone of Aja has gone missing from her bath-side table. Suzi Q begins to contort, and Esidisi reveals through her how he had taken control of the woman, sending the Red Stone away from Venice on the postal boat shown earlier. He exclaims that the only way to kill him for once and for all is to end the life of Suzi Q, an act which he taunts Joseph and Lisa Lisa for not being able to commit. Joseph remarks at Esidisi's undying will to succeed.
