Kars reluctantly accepts, keeping Lisa Lisa as a hostage while letting Joseph leave to get the stone and meet them at Skeleton Heel Stone at midnight.

Joseph and Wamuu fighting.

Moments before the race begins, Joseph scattered rubble under Wamuu's chariot to get a head start to grab a war hammer which he coats with oil to conduct the Ripple. But Wamuu grabbed the pillar from which the hammer hung from, using to knock Joseph off his chariot before attempt to run him over. But Joseph uses the hammer to catapult himself pass the vampire horses. Wamuu blinding himself.

The humiliating shock left Wamuu speechless as both combatants reached the second lap with choice of steel crossbow. By that time, Wamuu flips his "mental switch" by gouging out his own eyes and using his horn as a sensing organ to "see" fluctuations in the wind. While Joseph grabs the larger crossbow, finding it difficult to use, Wamuu grabs the smaller one and used it to obliterate the head of one of Joseph's horses. This forces Joseph to ride his remaining Vampire Horse and attempt to hide his presence from Wamuu via the bonfire in the middle of the track. But Wamuu uses a rebound shot to hit Joseph dead on as he fell off his horse while the crossbow is set in place.

Wamuu's final attempt on Joseph's life.

Wamuu approaches to finish the fight, getting annoyed when Joseph being undignified in accepting death and tarnishing their fight. But it was ruse as Joseph uses his own rebound shot with a Ripple-infused bolt to deal the death blow. With his body failing and unable to use his Divine Sandstorm, Wamuu results to his double-edged Atmospheric Rift to finish the human off. After a failed attempt at attacking him with a firebomb, Joseph strikes at Wamuu with Caesar's flaming bandana, which Wamuu shreds with his wind. But this was what Joseph counted on: the oil from the bomb and the burning embers of Caesar's bandana are inhaled by Wamuu, causing him to explode from the inside.

Joseph paying his final respects.

Reducing the Pillar Man to a dissolving head, Joseph shows Wamuu a warrior's respect by giving him drops of blood to ease his pain. When some vampires suddenly attack, Wamuu uses the last of his strength to kill them for their interference. Joseph then honored Wamuu's final request to take the antidote, saluting the Pillar Man as he passes away without any regrets.
