The Switzerland Hotel is a tentatively named location featured in the second part of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series, Battle Tendency. It was once a luxurious hotel in St. Moritz, Switzerland turned into the base of operations for the Pillar Men Kars and Wamuu, and their vampires.

Description

The hotel was originally a fortress built by Albrecht Gessler in the 14th century, who was later defeated by the Swiss folk hero William Tell. During the early 20th century, the fortress was rediscovered and repurposed into a hotel before eventually becoming abandoned.[1] The building is composed of three main floors with two towers on either side that have at least one extra floor which extends back.

When it was a hotel, it was a luxury resort that, in its prime, was visited by the rich for the holidays during winter to participate in recreation such as skiing.[2]

At some point, the establishment was abandoned, but remains fully furnished with extravagant statues, though these amenities are covered in cobwebs. Joseph notes that he finds the interior design particularly creepy.[1] All the windows and many of the doors leading outside are boarded up,[2][3] by the vampires under Kars' orders, to prevent sunlight from coming in.[1] The main entrance is guarded by Wamuu himself as he uses his Wind Mode to protect himself from the sun.[2]

After Caesar and Wamuu's battle, the main hall becomes wrecked with the carpet shredded and a large cross-shaped stone lying in the center, under which Caesar's body lies.[4]

History

Background

The structure was originally meant to serve as a fortress for Swiss ruler Albrecht Gessler, who had it constructed during the 14th century. After his death at the hands of the hero William Tell, the building became abandoned until it was rediscovered and repurposed into a luxury hotel in the early 20th century. For unknown reasons it was abandoned once again until Kars and Wamuu took it over.[1]

Caesar: A Lonely Youth

Joseph, Caesar, Lisa Lisa, and Messina are located at a building across from the abandoned hotel. Joseph is messing around with a Luxury Cat when Lisa Lisa asks him to take a look at the building.

Messina had been stalking the building all day with binoculars and reports to sign of the Pillar Men. He and Caesar agree that it would be a good idea to go in and attack them now in the daytime since they can't come outside, but Jospeph disagrees with them. He says they should wait until night to attack to catch them off guard since Kars would expect them to come during the day. The disagreement between Caesar and Joseph becomes physical as Caesar decides to leave on him own.

Lisa Lisa, agreeing with Joseph that it's too dangerous to attack them now, sends Messina to go and stop Cease as she explains his past to him. Meanwhile, as Caesar approaches the building he sees a clear silhouette of a man guarding it.

The Wind, the Chariot, and Wamuu

After morning for Caesar, Lisa Lisa and Joseph head deeper into the fort. Joseph describes how creepy one of the doorknobs is, but it starts talking to him, saying he's not a door. A vampire calling himself Wired Beck pops out of the wall, breaking Joseph's clackers in half and angering him. The vampire then hits on Lisa Lisa, but she ignores his advances. Annoyed by her silence, Wired Beck reveals his body spikes, but she again ignores him and walks right past him. In shock, Wired Beck talks to Joseph, who explains that she's already killed him with her Ripple. Wired Beck screams in pain as all his spikes break off and the two keep walking further in.[1]
