Urmd Avdul
Urmd Avdul (ウルムド・アブドゥル, Urumudo Abuduru) is a tertiary character featured in the seventh part of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series, Steel Ball Run.
Coming from Egypt, Avdul is a nomad participating in the Steel Ball Run race.
Appearance
Avdul is an Egyptian man of average build and dark skin. He wears a turban that covers his head and has a knot at the back. He wears earrings comprised of a single, long chain of medallions, resembling a necklace. The medallions have engraved symbols consisting of three lines, dots, and crescent shapes. His top is a long-sleeve loose-fitting garment, featuring a striped pattern. This is paired with loose pants and pointed shoes. He also has four thick metallic bracelets on both of his wrists.
Personality
Little is known about Urmd Avdul's personality, as he is swiftly defeated by Gyro Zeppeli. However, he is a competitive racer, being a champion candidate of the Steel Ball Run race. He appears ambitious to some degree, as he is said to cross the Sahara Desert three times annually.[1]
Abilities
Camelback Riding
Avdul is an experienced camel rider. He is capable of crossing the Sahara desert on its back and does it three times annually. Due to the camel's long legs, it has the ability to keep up with a horse's speed, but at the same time crush any other racers with its 800 kg body.[2]
History
Background
Urmd Avdul is a racer who hails from the Khedivate of Egypt. It is mentioned that he crosses the Sahara Desert three times annually.[1]
Steel Ball Run
On September 25, 1890, Avdul signs up for the Steel Ball Run race and is considered by Steven Steel as one of the champion candidates of the race alongside Mountain Tim, Dot Han, and Diego Brando.[1]
As soon as the first stage of the race begins, Avdul charges past Gyro Zeppeli on camelback, trying to unhorse him with his camel's weight advantage. Gyro throws one of his Steel Balls as he runs into a grove of trees with Avdul following him. Avdul is confident that he'll win the stage and get the time bonus. However, instead of lunging into what Avdul thinks will be the final blow for Gyro and his horse, Avdul's camel ends up lunging into a group of cacti. Gyro used vibrations from the Spin to see an image of the cacti in the dust of the rock that the ball hit, allowing him to lure Avdul there. Avdul collapses from his camel and is eliminated from the race, after running barely 1000 meters from the starting point.[2]
