Summary

Within the stopped time, the Diego Brando from Another Universe casually deviates Johnny's nail bullet and reminisces how Valentine came to his world to convince him to follow him and take the Corpse for himself, as Valentine respected Diego' ambition and didn't wish for Johnny to keep it for himself. Diego accepted and went underground, exploiting a momentary distraction from Johnny's part to steal the corpse. Time resumes and the knives hit Johnny who is unhorsed. Dio departs but Johnny shoots several nail bullets toward Dio who has to stop time to avoid the holes Tusk ACT 3 create. Dio grasps the dangerousness of Johnny's Stand and devises a plan to kill him as Johnny deduces the timestopping ability of The World.

Johnny then finishes the 8th stage at the 5th place and immediately goes to one of the boats transporting the horseracers toward Coney Island. Meanwhile the speaker reveals that the results of the Steel Ball Run race are still unclear, as Johnny, Dio, Norisuke Higashikata and Pocoloco can seize the first place.

In the boat Johnny thinks up how he can overcome Dio's power within the last 15km of the race. When Johnny disembarks, he sees his father George waving at him and showing him Nicholas's boots as a silent reconciliation. Johnny is moved and continues the race as George publicly apologizes for mistreating his son. Following Dio into the alleys of New York, Johnny figures that he must outwit Dio and only barely get in range. Suddenly Dio disappears again, and has hung wires to trap Johnny. Johnny collides with them.
