The JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series is notable for a number of onomatopeias or sound effects which attracted attention due to their incongruity. This is a list of all examples of such sound effects.

As a note : There are four defined types of onomatopeias depending on the symbolism used in Japanese. Giseigo (擬声語) and Giongo (擬音語) are onomatopeias that mimic the sound made by respectively living beings or inanimate objects. For instance, a cat meowing would have a "Nyaa" (にゃあ) giseigo for "meow", a "boom" from an explosion would be the Doon (ドーン) giongo. Gitaigo (擬態語) are used to indicate a state or a condition. For instance, someone smirking will be underlined by the "Niyaniya" (にやにや) gitaigo. Gijōgo (擬情語) depict depict psychological states or bodily feelings.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure's sound effect usage is notable for featuring unique sound effects, such as "Memetaa!" which are rare or even unique to the series, as well as altering common sound effects. Most notably is the series' liberal use of sound effects for purely ambiancing purposes without direct logical link between the event depicted and the sound effect, inspired by background sound effects used in plays or movies. One example would be the "Zukyuuun" sound effect as Dio forcefully kisses Erina, which to Japanese readers has the effect of a gunshot, and for which a high pitch guitar strum was used in the anime, to underline how shocking/violent the stolen kiss is.
