Pork Pie Hat Kid
Pork Pie Hat Kid (ポーク・パイ・ハット小僧 Pōku Pai Hatto Kozō) is a minor antagonist featured in Steel Ball Run. He is the first minor antagonist shown in the race to be one of the president's henchmen.
Appearance/Personality
Pork Pie Hat Kid appears like a skinny and short young boy, hiding his bald head with bamboo sticks and wearing a tutu-like skirt.
He does not seem to be completely sane, drinking ink and attempting to taste his own fallen teeth, but he's very smart nonetheless. In order to acquire the corpse, he uses all kind of tricks: from using Johnny's horse and burning the ground with gasoline to locate him, to using Gyro as a bait.
Synopsis
After Fritz von Stroheim's failed attempt to kill Gyro Zeppeli, Pork Pie Hat Kid uses his Stand to kidnap him along with stealing his luggage and horses, looking for something. Johnny Joestar begins to understand that their enemy wasn't trying to kill them in order to win the race, but he was looking for something they possessed: a mummified hand which entered Johnny's body during their battle against the Boom Boom Family. Even Von Stroheim and Oyecomova were looking after it.
Johnny realizes the enemy can attack from the distance, by transforming objects like feathers and bugs into baits which produce wired hooks with enough strength to lift up a horse. Unfortunately, he falls prey of the enemy as well and he's almost giving up the corpse, when a strange creature emerges from the hand, awakening Johnny's ability to throw his own nails and attacking Pork Pie Hat Kid.
Thanks to Gyro, Johnny finds out the enemy's position and manages to seemingly defeat him. Gyro, was however turned into a bait as well, and Pork Pie Hat Kid forces Johnny to give him the corpse, threatening to kill his friend. The hand obtained, Pork Pie Hat Kid attempts to run away, but Gyro had managed to apply the spin to the corpse's nails which signaled the Pork Pie Hat Kid's defeat.
Trivia
- The Pork Pie Hat Kid was responsible for preventing the coffee from Lucy Steel's falling coffee pot from spilling on the president by exploiting his dimensional door power.
- Likely due to his Stand being located in his throat, he emits metallic noises while speaking.
- The Pork Pie Hat Kid seems to be unable to remember Johnny's name, calling him with strange names like "Jyawnee Jyoshter". It's most likely to be a speech impediment.
- According to what the President's men say in Chapter 28, the Pork Pie Hat Kid did not die, but after the confrontation with Johnny and Gyro, he will stay injured for the rest of his life.
