Steel Ball Run - Chapter 89
Summary
Johnny admits that Valentine is walking the righteous path. However, Johnny picks up the revolver Valentine used earlier on Gyro and tosses it toward Valentine. Johnny dares him to pick up the weapon, which will guarantee that Valentine isn't lying about letting him go.
Valentine approaches his hand, and suddenly pulls up his own revolver while sending D4C to attack Johnny. A duel ensues, in which Johnny pierces Valentine's throat and chest, while also being shot several times himself. As Valentine collapses, a voice calls Johnny, who looks up and sees the ghost of his deceased friend Gyro floating.
Johnny and Gyro speak to each other one last time before Gyro says his goodbyes. Johnny shoots his nail one last time, hitting Valentine in the head and dragging his body underground by the Golden Spin. With Funny Valentine dead and the Saint's Corpse fully separated from an unharmed Lucy, Johnny finally allows himself a loud and emotional cry of sorrow.
