Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan - Episode 5: Millionaire Village (岸辺露伴は動かない 〜エピソード5:富豪村〜, Kishibe Rohan wa Ugokanai 〜 Episōdo 5: Fugō-mura 〜) is a one-shot manga written and illustrated by Hirohiko Araki, as part of the Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan series. The One-Shot is a JoJo's Bizarre Adventure spin-off starring Rohan Kishibe, a key character of Diamond is Unbreakable, as the main protagonist.
Summary
The first two pages of the one-shot feature Rohan performing his morning hand exercises for his drawing session.
Rohan and a Shueisha magazine editor by the name of Kyoka Izumi are meeting at cafe in Morioh. They discuss the one-shot Rohan must complete by the end of the summer, but while Rohan begins to present his idea about annular solar eclipse, Izumi conceitedly suggests that Rohan talks about buying a villa in the mountains. Although Rohan is defensive, upset at the possible insult, but Izumi explains herself.
Izumi shows Rohan a satellite photography of a small settlement in the middle of the mountains, with no roads leading to it; yet the buildings are all luxurious mansions complete with infrastructures to accomodate the wealthy inhabitants. She explains that a parcel of land is up for sales, and that she intends to buy it. Having done research about the owners, the editor thinks that whoever buys a property in the village when they are 25 years old, they definitely become incredibly rich. She asks Rohan to come with her when she buys the villa, since it may end up becoming a good prompt for his one-shot.
Izumi and Rohan hikes up the mountain range to reach the village. When the main gate comes into view, Izumi mentions that the people in the village are intolerant when it comes to bad manners, and will not sell to anyone without manners. Thus, she warns Rohan to watch his manners, to his irritation. She practices with him before entering the village, but is cut-short when they find a baby chick who has fallen from a tree. Izumi places the chick in a candy box, and decides to find the nest later.
The front door suddenly opens and a child in uniform greets the two with impeccable manners then leads his guests to a living room in which they will negotiate the sales. The child introduces himself as Ikkyu, a butler and tells Izumi that his master will be available shortly for the sales. He then invites them to sit, gives them tea as refreshment and finally bows and retreats outside the room, sitting motionless. Rohan guesses that the owner is currently testing their manners and drinking the tea properly is one of the trials. Despite his advice for caution, Izumi decides to drink the tea in a manner she thinks is proper.
Izumi has only time for sip that Ikkyu asks them to leave. He mentions that they have already breached three rules of good manners and will not sell them the land. Izumi is confused, but Ikkyu goes on to explain his accusations. Firstly, as guest, Rohan and Izumi should have not sat on the sofa, considered a seat of honor, but instead on the lower seats facing a wall instead of the entrance. The second breach of etiquette is that they should have not stepped on the edges of the tatami mats of a Japanese-style room. Finally, the third breach is to place the fingers through the handle of a teacup while drinking, which Izumi just committed. With the explanation over, Ikkyu asks for them to leave again.
Izumi begs Ikkyu for another chance, which the butler complies and goes to ask his master. Rohan seems uneasy about the situation, and suggests they leave. He reaches into his pocket briefly, only to realize his hand had been covered in blood. As he realizes that the candy box sheltering the chick is overflowing with blood and vermin, Izumi's is devastated to learn on her mobile phone that her mother and fiancee both died in a car crash. Ikkyu returns and announces that the owner will give Izumi her second chance; wary, Rohan immediately uses Heaven's Door on the butler. By reading Ikkyu, he realises that the whole village is controlled by the gods of the mountains who reward impeccable manners but punish breaches of etiquette with the loss of something precious for the offendant. Unfortunately, Rohan has improperly used his power on Ikkyu, and sees Izumi having a heart attack.
Rohan begs the butler to forgive her, but Ikkyu is adamant about etiquette. Rohan must face another trial of etiquette to save his editor and finds himself sitting with a plate of corn. Ikkyu thus challenges Rohan to properly eat the corn. Fortunately, Rohan correctly deduces that the proper and only way to eat corn is to hold it with both hands. Moreover, Rohan points out that the butler has been standing at the edge of a tatami mat, to the latter's shock. Earlier, Rohan had written in the butler, making it so he could no longer see the edges of tatami mats. Ikkyu himself commits three breaches of etiquette by unwittingly stepping on the edges he cannot see, and Rohan claims victory. Return returns to life, and as a prize, he asks for Izumi's loved ones to be returned to her as well.
Upset, Ikkyu threatens that this cheating will incur the wrath of the gods and proposes another trial, but Rohan refuses, confident of his safety since the one breaching etiquette was still Ikkyu. He immediately leaves without any intent to return, carrying the still unconscious but safe Izumi. Outside of the village, he gladly notices that the chick is also alive and healthy.

The greatest benefit I obtained from "Millionaire Village" is Kyoka Izumi the editor's character. Even though she has an annoying personality, I love this character and I would consider her a masterpiece.
