D4C expresses no particular personality. However, representing Valentine's spirit across all dimensions, passing between a number of his bodies and linking each to the "root world" of the Corpse, D4C's abilities lend it peculiar depth. |

===Travel Between Parallel Worlds=== |
In the reality of Steel Ball Run, an uncountable number of parallel worlds are assumed to exist. However, the Saint's Corpse exists in only one of these worlds, which is referred to as the base world. Though these parallel worlds would normally never cross paths with the base world, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap allows them to overlap and co-exist in the same place and time. These parallel worlds are nearly identical to the base world, save for minor variations in their history and geography. |
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap allows different parallel worlds/dimensions to co-exist at the same time and/or in the same place. It also allows its user to visit these parallel worlds/dimensions and interact with them. |
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap allows Valentine to travel between these parallel worlds, preserving the force of their internal gravity to prevent them from being annihilated. Valentine himself can force other people to travel with him and transport objects with him across universes. |
Valentine travels by being closed between two objects, shown first by putting himself between a chair and the ground. Liquid materials, such as water count as objects as well, and even dust or steam. Valentine only needs an infinitesimal part of himself put between two objects to be able to hop between dimensions. Following that, Valentine may reappear from anywhere, like emerging from someone's back, presumably by affecting objects in a neighboring dimension. One of the early facets of this power was that Valentine was impervious to projectiles as the hit body part would transform simply into a hole, however, this was then left out after its initial usage. |
In order to travel between parallel worlds, Valentine or his intended target must be put between two objects so as to be virtually flattened between them. In reality, the objects become a portal into which Valentine enter to go into another universe, and from the point of view of his exit, it would look like Valentine was emerging from a random object. These objects can be any matter other than air, including solids such as chairs, doors, the floor and walls, liquids such as water, dust and even gases like steam. Only an infinitesimal part of the subject needs be put between two objects to allow the ability to activate. After being transported, Valentine can re-emerge from anywhere nearby, including from someone else's back, presumably having arranged an entrance within the parallel world. |
Valentine can also pull other people or items to other dimensions by forcing them between two objects or into the object he uses as a portal; for instance he can slam a door on them while they are backed against a wall. However, as no two versions of the same person or thing can co-exist in the same dimension, one of them will have to go back into their own. If not, and if they get too close to one another, both will crumble, splitting into Menger sponge before obliteration, potentially causing an explosive reaction that may harm those close by. This rule does not apply to Valentine himself. Valentine can also only partially drag people into a new dimension, immobilizing them inside an object. |
Valentine can also choose to only partially transport people or things between worlds, immobilizing them inside one of the surrounding objects. However, a lucky and savvy enough person can free themselves by forcing someone or something else to use the same portal, which allows the prisoner to move out. Valentine can also use this ability to avoid taking damage from projectiles by using it to partially transport himself between worlds to avoid the projectile altogether. |
Diego Brando has demonstrated that people other than the Stand User can pull people to other dimensions if he reuses the same objects that were used to drag them between dimensions. |
The moving holes created by Tusk are a notable exception to D4C's ability as Valentine cannot force them into another universe. |
It is explained that between dimensions, gravity as a force is able to persist with Valentine when he hops between dimensions. This keeps him from breaking into pieces and becoming scattered across the different worlds. |
===Properties of Parallel Worlds=== |
If Funny Valentine is injured, he can hop into another dimension and transfer his D4C to this world's Valentine. Said Valentine acquires the memory of the previous Valentine and becomes the 'Root Valentine' by virtue of now possessing the Stand, but his consciousness remains different from that of the previous owner. Nevertheless, since each Valentine is dedicated to gathering the Corpse Parts and has the same personality, the differences are unnoticeable. Furthermore, he can summon any number of alternate selves to a target dimension in order to outnumber his opponents. These Valentines do not have D4C's of their own however, this Stand seemingly being wholly unique to the 'Root World', the single universe where the Corpse resides. |
A notable natural law of parallel worlds is that only one iteration of any person or thing can exist in the same world at the same time. Thus, if Valentine pulls someone or something else into a parallel world, they will begin to slowly be pulled toward their iteration in that world. Once two iterations of the same person or thing enter close proximity, portions of each in the form of Menger sponge will fly toward and collide with their alternate iterations, being completely annihilated without a trace; when the duplicate people or things themselves collide, they merge as well and are eradicated completely, potentially damaging those in the immediate radius of the collision. The only way for victims of D4C's ability to avoid destruction is by returning the transported iteration of themselves to their original world, which can be accomplished simply by putting them between two objects once more. |
As a side effect of D4C's ability, Valentine is the sole exception to the above rule, and may safely co-exist and interact with as many iterations of himself as he pleases. This allows him to summon several iterations of himself in the same world to outnumber his opponents, conspire with his alternate selves, and even fake his own death by leaving corpses of his parallel selves in other worlds. |
During early chapters, people were somehow able to see into different dimensions from different angles, but this property is never expanded on. |
D4C's ability is wholly exclusive to its iteration from the base world. In order to preserve this unique ability, if Funny Valentine is gravely injured, he is able to transfer ownership of it to another iteration of himself in the same world. The receiving Valentine retains their own consciousness, but acquires both full use of D4C and the memory of its prior user. This allows Valentine to pass on his will to another self and continue fighting, even if his body is mortally wounded. |
Two iterations of the same object or person may also co-exist safely if they are from different points in time in the same world. Therefore, the two Joseph Joestars (one from Part 2 and the other from Part 3) featured in Eyes of Heaven can safely interact with each other. |
===Overlapping of Parallel Worlds=== |
In its first proper demonstration, the range of D4C's power could be expanded beyond the two objects necessary for transport between worlds, as Valentine was able to overlap two separate parallel worlds with the base world. As a consequence of the ability's larger range, those unaffected by the Stand's ability were able to see into different overlapping parallel worlds depending on their viewing angle. This allows Valentine to sow confusion among his enemies. In addition, by looking into a parallel world, he is able to witness unseen events, as demonstrated when he does so to identify and locate Lucy Steel after she attacks him and flees. |

Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap (often referred to as "Dirty Whatever" by Jorge Joestar) also appears in the novel Jorge, although it belongs to an incarnation of Funny Valentine from an unknown universe as well as the grandson of Funny Valentine from the 37th universe, The Funniest Valentine. Like the original D4C, the Stand can be lent by the user to a parallel world version of himself. However, a unique attribute of D4C in the novel is that if the Stand is being lent then it automatically returns to its original owner if the current owner is killed. |
As there can only be one Stand per person, the different versions of Funny Valentine in each parallel world he accesses does not have a Stand, but there are several versions of The Funniest Valentine in Funny's parallel worlds who have D4C. It is the opposite for The Funniest's parallel worlds. Thus, Funny can collect several versions of The Funniest with D4C from his parallel worlds, whereas The Funniest can collect multiple versions of Funny with D4C instead. However, these different versions with their own Stand can be destroyed by the Menger sponge rule if they touch each other. |
Later, Kars gets his own enhanced copy of the Stand, known as Ultimate D4C. |

Araki states that the rabbit-like design of D4C's head came about because he wanted the Stand's silhouette to be completely different from the Stands of the previous main antagonists, so he decided to give it long ears. |

*In the English localization of All Star Battle, D4C is only referred to by the shorthand D4C, whilst the full phrase "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" is generally changed to a synonym phrase ("Time to perform some dishonest acts at a fair and reasonable price!"). The JoJo Glossary seemingly mocks this change by claiming that "No one knows what this mysterious abbreviation means". |

*In Eyes of Heaven, it's explained that the Menger sponge-based dimension effect does not apply towards two versions of the same object or person if they are from the same timeline. This explains why two Joseph Joestars (both Part 2 and Part 3) can coexist and safely interact with each other. Two same people from alternate universes (but not parallel dimensions) are also shown to be capable of safely coexisting, such as Jonathan Joestar and his alternate universe counterpart. |

Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap (いともたやすく行われるえげつない行為, Dātī Dīzu Dan Dāto Chīpu),[a] frequently shortened to D4C (
D4C is a humanoid Stand that allows its user to pass into parallel worlds at will and pull people from them back into his world. With the exception of Funny Valentine himself, if a person comes into contact with themselves from an alternative world, both of them will be destroyed.
Appearance

D4C has a humanoid form with large, upright horns that somewhat resemble the ears of a leporidae; a masked mandible, and a light body lined by an almost unbroken seam or trim. It's designed after the image of leather being stitched together, like on a baseball.[2] Under its brow, its eyes appear to emote a cold gaze.
After a late encounter[3] with Gyro Zeppeli, along with Valentine, D4C's appearance changes drastically as a result of Valentine's rapid aging at the hands of Gyro's Stand, losing a layer of its face, including its horns. Even after switching users to a healthy Valentine, D4C keeps its new form.

Abilities
D4C is among the most powerful Stands in the series. In its default form, it is a close-range Stand with above-average strength and speed. It is able to punch a grown man away violently[4] and rivals a transformed Diego in speed.[5]
Although still exploring its full potential, Valentine is adept and creative with its powers.
Travel Between Parallel Worlds

In the reality of Steel Ball Run, an uncountable number of parallel worlds are assumed to exist. However, the Saint's Corpse exists in only one of these worlds, which is referred to as the base world (基本世界, kihon sekai). Though these parallel worlds would normally never cross paths with the base world, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap allows them to overlap and co-exist in the same place and time. These parallel worlds are nearly identical to the base world, save for minor variations in their history and geography.
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap allows Valentine to travel between these parallel worlds, preserving the force of their internal gravity to prevent them from being annihilated.[4][6] Valentine himself can force other people to travel with him and transport objects with him across universes.
In order to travel between parallel worlds, Valentine or his intended target must be put between two objects so as to be virtually flattened between them. In reality, the objects become a portal into which Valentine enter to go into another universe, and from the point of view of his exit, it would look like Valentine was emerging from a random object.[7] These objects can be any matter other than air, including solids such as chairs, doors, the floor and walls, liquids such as water, dust and even gases like steam.[5] Only an infinitesimal part of the subject needs be put between two objects to allow the ability to activate. After being transported, Valentine can re-emerge from anywhere nearby, including from someone else's back, presumably having arranged an entrance within the parallel world.[4]
Valentine can also choose to only partially transport people or things between worlds, immobilizing them inside one of the surrounding objects.[4] However, a lucky and savvy enough person can free themselves by forcing someone or something else to use the same portal, which allows the prisoner to move out. Valentine can also use this ability to avoid taking damage from projectiles by using it to partially transport himself between worlds to avoid the projectile altogether.[8]
The moving holes created by Tusk are a notable exception to D4C's ability as Valentine cannot force them into another universe.
Properties of Parallel Worlds

A notable natural law of parallel worlds is that only one iteration of any person or thing can exist in the same world at the same time. Thus, if Valentine pulls someone or something else into a parallel world, they will begin to slowly be pulled toward their iteration in that world. Once two iterations of the same person or thing enter close proximity, portions of each in the form of Menger sponges will fly toward and collide with their alternate iterations, being completely annihilated without a trace; when the duplicate people or things themselves collide, they merge as well and are eradicated completely,[9] potentially damaging those in the immediate radius of the collision.[10] The only way for victims of D4C's ability to avoid destruction is by returning the transported iteration of themselves to their original world, which can be accomplished simply by putting them between two objects once more.[9][10]
As a side effect of D4C's ability, Valentine is the sole exception to the above rule, and may safely co-exist and interact with as many iterations of himself as he pleases. This allows him to summon several iterations of himself in the same world to outnumber his opponents,[5] conspire with his alternate selves,[10] and even fake his own death by leaving corpses of his parallel selves in other worlds.[9]
D4C's ability is wholly exclusive to its iteration from the base world.[1] In order to preserve this unique ability, if Funny Valentine is gravely injured, he is able to transfer ownership of it to another iteration of himself in the same world.[9][11] The receiving Valentine retains their own consciousness, but acquires both full use of D4C and the memory of its prior user.
Overlapping of Parallel Worlds
In its first proper demonstration, the range of D4C's power could be expanded beyond the two objects necessary for transport between worlds, as Valentine was able to overlap two separate parallel worlds with the base world. As a consequence of the ability's larger range, those unaffected by the Stand's ability were able to see into different overlapping parallel worlds depending on their viewing angle. This allows Valentine to sow confusion among his enemies.[4] In addition, by looking into a parallel world, he is able to witness unseen events, as demonstrated when he does so to identify and locate Lucy Steel after she attacks him and flees.[12]
Novels
JORGE JOESTAR
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap (often referred to as "Dirty Whatever" (いとも何とか, Itomo Nantoka) by Jorge Joestar) also appears in the novel JORGE JOESTAR, although it belongs to an incarnation of Funny Valentine from an unknown universe as well as the grandson of Funny Valentine from the 37th universe, The Funniest Valentine.
Later, Kars gets his own enhanced copy of the Stand, known as Ultimate D4C.[13]

Creation and Development
Araki states that the rabbit-like design of D4C's head came about because he wanted the Stand's silhouette to be completely different from the Stands of the previous main antagonists, so he decided to give it long ears.[2]

Additionally, the original Japanese releases of the aforementioned games write the Stand's name in katakana as ダーティー・ディーズ・ダン・ダート・チープ (Dātī Dīzu Dan Dāto Chīpu).
