Steel Ball Run - Chapter 89
Summary
Johnny admits that Valentine is walking the righteous path. However, Johnny picks up the revolver Valentine used earlier on Gyro and tosses it toward Valentine. Johnny dares him to pick up the weapon, which will guarantee that Valentine isn't lying about letting him go.
Valentine approaches the revolver, but breaks into a short speech, exclaiming that his actions have all been of justice. Suddenly, he instead pulls out his different, pocketed revolver, while sending D4C to attack Johnny. A duel ensues, in which Johnny pierces Valentine's throat and chest, while also being shot several times himself.
As Valentine collapses, a voice calls out to Johnny. He looks up and sees the ghost of his deceased friend, Gyro, floating towards the sky. Gyro tells Johnny to keep the secret of his real name, before flying up and disappearing, leaving Johnny calling his final goodbyes. Johnny shoots a final nail, piercing Valentine in the head and dragging his body underground by the Golden Spin, ultimately defeating him. With Funny Valentine dead and the Saint's Corpse fully separated from an unharmed Lucy Steel, Johnny finally allows himself a loud and emotional cry of sorrow.
