I hate it when people see my back!
—Masazo Kinoto

Masazo Kinoto (乙 雅三, Kinoto Masazo) is a minor character from Diamond Is Unbreakable.

Personality

Masazo is a quiet and timid architect, but a little greedy. His Stand Cheap Trick constantly puts fear on him, telling Masazo he would die if anyone saw his back. Its possible Masazo was so afraid of that voice he didn't even look at his Stand, but believed it and developed an abnormal fear of letting anyone see his back. He still tried to live his life like a normal person, but the constant danger of people seeing his back made him do bizarre acts to hide it, such as walking on the street with his back against somebody else's back, pushing himself against a wall to walk sideways and even crawling along the floor with his back turned to it.

Synopsis

History

Masazo is one of the people shot by Yoshihiro Kira to defend Yoshikage Kira. He wasn't aware of his Stand (only what would happen if its ability activated) and didn't want to attack anyone, and so tried to live a normal life with it. He eventually was called by Rohan to evaluate his burned house, and had to turn his back against people's back and walk backwards to reach the house.

Diamond Is Unbreakable

Masazo is a first-class architect sent to evaluate the cost for repairing Rohan Kishibe's burned home, planning to charge more than the necessary because Rohan was rich. Upon their meeting, Rohan immediately used Heaven's Door to knock him out, suspecting a potential enemy Stand user. Much information about Kinoto is harmless, with the exception of the strange man's abnormal fear of having his back seen. Growing curious about Kinoto's attempts to hide his back, Rohan tricks Kinoto into falling in a hole on the floor, exposing his back. This enables his parasitic Stand Cheap Trick to drain Kinoto of life and inhabit Rohan instead.

Trivia

  • As revealed by Heaven's Door, Masazo frets over the fact he hasn't been able to find a girlfriend.
