Production
Phantom Blood was written and illustrated by Hirohiko Araki, serliazing from So and So date to So and So date. Starring Jonathan Joestar as its main character as he grows through a perilous period of his life. Phantom Blood was the beginning of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series and has been adapted into anime, film and a video-game. (Need details about success like sales, awards or something)
The idea behind Phantom Blood is Araki's exploration of good and evil. The dynamic between Dio, and Jonathan, as Araki describes, represents "good and evil, white and black." This dynamic made them both "function as symbols and foils to one another". Jonathan being a pure, diginfied, symbol of justice and Dio as the ambitious, ultimate evil within the story. Araki also explores a reoccuring theme within the series itself, regarding ultimate power and who controls it. Phantom Blood was the first part of Araki's planned idea for a multi-generational story.
Araki's artstyle during this period, was inspired by the popularity of muscular heroes at the time, and Italian sculptures that Araki took a liking to during one of his trips.

Dio vs Jonathan (Flashback)
With his plans set in motion, Dio joins a brawling game against Jonathan and defeats him. With Jonathan on the ground embarrassed, Dio gloats to the other kids and asks them to avoid talking to JoJo.
Dio has crossed the line, Jonathan aims to take revenge for Erina's honor and confronts Dio in their mansion. The boys duke it out, but Jonathan's conviction overpowers Dio. Dio, humiliated and crying, nearly pulls out a knife until their father George Joestar I berrates them for fighting. Dio and Jonathan's conflict is still not over however.
Jonathan is convinced that Dio has been poisoning their father, but can't inform law enforcement yet without evidence. He deices to travel across London to a dangerous area called Ogre Street. He takes a few steps, but is immediately ambushed by goons led by Robert E.O. Speedwagon.
Now transformed into a vampire, Dio's ultimate scheme has paid off and he brawls with his adoptive brother, who, with newly found determination faces up against the inhuman foe.
Taken under Will Zeppeli's wing, Jonathan faces his final task against the zombie, Jack the Ripper who stands against Jonathan and his allies in a dark tunnel.
Jonathan and his allies make their way to a deserted town, and though the air was calm, suddenly, hordes of zombies arise from the grave. They quickly notice an ominous presence standing at the top of a cliff, Dio Brando!
After a swift brawl, Dio decides to resurrect the bodies of two medieval knights, Tarkus and Bruford. Though they've lived heroic lives, they've been resurrected as heinous zombies. Will is temporarily out of the fight, so Jonathan prepares to battle Tarkus in a duel.
After Tarkus's defeat, Jonathan's group decides to run away from Bruford. They descend from a cliff into an abandoned training site inside the ravine. Bruford catches up the group, and traps Jonathan into one of the site's "death match" rooms. The odds are against him, but Will comes upon an epiphany...
Jonathan, accompanied by allies of Will, break into Dio's castle to vanquish his evil. Though Dio surrounds himself by hordes of zombies, Jonathan's greatest strength is his determination.
Happily wed and off to his honey-moon, JoJo is finally able to enjoy life with Erina. On their boat, Jonathan notices a bizarre man walking to the bottom of the haul. He follows him to the haul, but he is shocked by a familar face, Dio!
Straizo, rejuvenated by the power of the stone mask, aims to eliminate all his potential enemies. He confronts Joseph Joestar at a restaraunt, but his foe is more than he could expect.
