SPOILER WARNING: Part 6 spoiler details may follow.
The time for Heaven. It has finally arrived... (「天国の時」はついに来た…)
—Enrico Pucci, Stone Ocean Chapter 148: C-MOON, Part 8

Made in Heaven (メイド・イン・ヘブン, Meido in Hebun) is a Stand belonging to Enrico Pucci, featured in Stone Ocean.

This Stand is the final metamorphosis in a chain following Whitesnake and C-Moon; one of the very last elements of the plan referenced in DIO's Diary. It was considered by DIO to be the ultimate Stand and the key to achieving "heaven".

Appearance

Made in Heaven takes the appearance of a thin, masculine humanoid fused at its waist to the front end of a horse, resembling a two-headed, two-legged centaur. A large cable, forming a clean arch, joins the humanoid half between its shoulder blades to the truncated posterior of the horse.

Its head is slightly elongated with a long vine wound around the top. The center of its face has a smooth, black surface and a large speedometer embedded in the region of where its eyes and nose would be. The rest of its face is lighter, matching the colors of its body. It has long feathers protruding out of its neck and the sides of its forearms are slightly furry.

The horse half of its body wears blinkers and reins, held in the hands of the humanoid half.

In contrast with its predecessors, it does not have "GΔCT" symbols on its body. Instead, the Stand has large clocks embedded in its shoulders, forearms, hands, and on the horse's forehead, shoulders, and blinkers, and a speedometer on its face.

Made in Heaven is white in most media featuring this Stand.

Abilities

Made in Heaven is an extremely powerful close-range time controlling Stand. Although its physical abilities may not be remarkable, its control over time grants it an overwhelming speed advantage and even counters abilities that function with a time limit like Star Platinum's time stop.

However, Pucci isn't particularly interested with Made in Heaven's time acceleration, but rather its capability to bring about a new universe with extraordinary properties.

Time Acceleration

Time seems to tick faster due to Made in Heaven

Made in Heaven's power is to dramatically speed up the flow of time; achieved through its ability to control the gravitational forces of the earth, moon, and seemingly the entire universe (in reference to aspects of the theory of relativity).[1]

Upon activation, time will gradually flow faster and faster in the whole universe. However, Made in Heaven prevents any living being from catching up with the acceleration, with the exception of its user, Enrico Pucci, and essentially God.[1] The lag between people's perceptions and the actual flow of time causes everyone to see all non-biological events as being sped up, which is considerably dangerous in case one is in a vehicle or in remotely dangerous environments.[2]

Pucci's increased speed

People in a cold environment seem to freeze instantly, all phenomenon like melting, flowing, drying, movements of objects will accelerate to the point people cannot react;[2][3] the sun eventually seems to rotate at high-speed in the sky, objects and corpses seem to decay in seconds, one can even witness the erosion of the water on rocks.[4] Interestingly, Made in Heaven can accelerate otherworldly events like time stop, and reduces the window of action of its user.[2]

Meanwhile, Pucci himself appears to possess extraordinary speed and reaction time,[5] and effortlessly outspeeds any of his opponents, even Star Platinum. Because of it, he can freely approach and use Made in Heaven to inflict mortal wounds like slitting the throat.[6] However he retains all of his human weaknesses: running or swimming around will tire him,[7] while being exposed to a hazardous environment will endanger him noticeably faster than his opponents.[8]

Consequences

You might think that knowing the ill fortunes of the future is despair but it's the opposite! Even if you knew you were going to die tomorrow, it is that 'resolution' that makes one happy! One's 'resolution' eradicates 'despair'! Humanity will change! This is what is strived for! This is Made in Heaven!
—Enrico Pucci, SO Chapter 157
SO Chapter 157.jpg

As time continues to accelerate, the universe will hit a "vanishing point", and a new universe will be created, where everything repeats itself, according to "fate".[9]

Every surviving organism is brought into the new world, positioned where they should be, according to a date chosen by Pucci. Anyone that has been recently killed in the previous universe will not cease to exist, but simply be replaced by a similar substitute, though Pucci states that their souls and personalities will have been erased and that they will appear as completely different people.[9]

The most esoteric property of the new world is that people have technically lived everything that has happened and will happen to them in the previous universe. The memories of the events are engraved into them and they will subconsciously realize what will happen to them in the future, although they usually cannot change the course of their fate. Pucci aims to make humanity feel at peace with their destiny that way, and as a result, understand his vision of heaven.[9]

If the user of this Stand is killed before the point where the original acceleration of time began (Pucci and March 21 at Cape Canaveral), the universal reset is aborted, and the universe reboots into an alternate timeline where the user never existed, therefore his actions never happened, including the effects of Made in Heaven's time acceleration. This is shown at the very end of Part 6, where Emporio kills Pucci, reverting the timeline but in the process making so that the new timeline had all its events happen without Pucci's interference.[8]

Trivia

"Stairway to Heaven" (WSJ 2003, No. 13)
  • The original name of this Stand was Stairway to Heaven (ステアウェイ・トゥ・ヘブン(天国への階段), Suteawei Tu Hebun), based on the song of the same name by Led Zeppelin. Later, in the tankōbon release, it was changed to Made in Heaven, the name of a single by Freddie Mercury and an album by Queen.
  • Just like C-Moon and Green, Green Grass of Home, Made in Heaven's abilities make reference to the concept of vanishing points.
  • In All Star Battle, it is shown that Gold Experience Requiem can function normally under the time-accelerating effect of Made in Heaven and that Giorno Giovanna remains immune to the effect as long as he has Requiem active.
  • Made in Heaven's concept of fate references some of the lyrics from Queen's Made in Heaven: "I'm taking my ride with destiny / Willing to play my part" and "Made in heaven, made in heaven / It was all meant to be, yeah".
