Doggy Style (ドギー・スタイル, Dogī Sutairu) is the Stand of Rai Mamezuku, featured in JoJolion. This mechanical Stand allows Rai to unravel his body into strips.

Appearance

Doggy Style takes the form of a humanoid with an elongated and almost featureless face, save for 6 small eyes and beanpod-shaped protrusions from the sides of its head. It has a heart-shaped torso, whisk-shaped appendages for arms and the kanji for "bean" (, mame) written on its shoulders within a circle.

Doggy Style is cyan and silver with a hint of pink in the colored manga.

Color Schemes

The series is known for alternating colors between media, the information presented below may or may not be canon.

Abilities

Skin Peeling

Doggy Style's full capabilities are currently unknown; however, its primary ability allows Rai to "peel" his own body like an apple, unraveling his appendages into "wire rope" that he can control and manipulate.[1]

Rai first uses it while on an aerial lift to retrieve a strawberry from a bush several feet below. The most advanced usage of this ability is when Rai turns his entire arm into a makeshift crossbow, from which he fires a fork using his mouth.[2] Rai can also send his rope fast enough to give it cutting power. He notably cut a garden of Locacaca plants this way.[3]

Rai is also able to completely unravel himself, as shown when he feigns death from Poor Tom's Ozon Baby. He seems to be able to unravel every part of his body besides his eyes and teeth, making it look like he had been crushed to death.[4]

Trivia

  • In a 2013 interview for NHK Educational TV's SWITCH Interview: Tatsujin-tachi with composer Akira Senju, Hirohiko Araki discussed how music has influenced JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and revealed Snoop Dogg's album Doggystyle is in his music collection, which he listened to when writing Vento Aureo and its gangster protagonists.[5]
  • Doggy Style's ability to unravel its user's body into a string-like substance is similar to the primary ability of Stone Free.
  • The intergration of both dog and bean motifs in the stand's design could be a subtle reference to the popular japanese merchandise franchise Mameshiba.
