Surface ((うわっ面) サーフィス, (Uwatsumen) Sāfisu) is the Stand of Toshikazu Hazamada featured in Part IV: Diamond is Unbreakable.

Appearance/Personality

Surface appears as a stand bound to a human-sized mannequin, with several screws sticking out of its head. It has no personality until its abilities are used, upon which it adopts the personality of whomever it is copying at the moment. While acting as a doppelganger of Josuke, it even made fun of its user, Toshikazu, for hitting him and hurting his hand on its wooden body; it was also smug towards Toshikazu because he was more popular with girls. However, he was still willing to serve his master without question.

However, it is not a spiritual stand, and therefore it needs some sort of physical object to bond with. That object is usually an oversized mannequin, but this was destroyed during its fight against Josuke. However, while in action, Surface takes on the appearance of another person - matching fingerprints, voice, mannerisms, and clothing. It is still possible to tell Surface apart from the original it copies, though, due to a visible screw located in the middle of the forehead.

Abilities

  • Mimicry: Surface's primary ability is to copy the appearance of another person. This also makes him adopt the same peronality of who he is copying.
  • Forced-Movement Synchronization: Surface can only use this ability while standing face-to-face with the original it is copying; it forces the original to mimic its same actions. This prevented Josuke from hitting it by standing still, making it impossible for him to move and strike it - even with his own stand due to its limited attack range.

Trivia

  • According to JOJOVELLER, the screw on its face could be a reference to Parman's eponymous robot character.
