Tsurugi Higashikata
Tsurugi Higashikata is a major character featured in Part VIII: JoJolion.
Tsurigu is the son of Jobin and Mitsuba Higashikata, and the youngest of the Higashikata Family.
Appearance
Tsurugi is a 9-year-old boy of average build.
Intentionally dressed in a traditionally feminine manner, his attire consists of a scarf, a polka-dot dress and a pair of flats. The majority of his face is occasionally covered by a large pair of black sunglasses
Personality
Despite being a young boy, Tsurugi, like the first born sons in the Higashikata family for their first 12 years of life, is raised as a girl to ward off a curse.
He displays a seemingly obsessive interest in origami. He harbors an unusual interest in the scent of Yasuho Hirose's hair.
Like his grandfather, he is interested in the Higashikata Family's prosperity; originally suspicious that Yasuho spends so much time with them.
Tsurugi has targeted Yasuho with his Stand, manipulating or toying with her. He explains afterwards that he simply likes her.
Abilities
Tsurugi's Stand is Paper Moon King, enabling him to give a degree of life to origami of his creation; which after touching his target/s affect them with a garbling illusion that all people and/or symbols (writing) appear the same.
Synopsis
As Jobin's "daughter", he appears to fit in quite well in the Higashikata family. He was present during the family photo and was introduced by Norisuke Higashikata IV. He is usually being carried around by Mitsuba.
Later, Yasuho encounters him after being taken to the Higashikata's basement. After attempting to play with her and having taken her phone, she discovers that he is male after some struggle. Daunted, Yasuho leaves to the outside, though not before Tsurugi casts what is presumably a stand ability on her after having touched her phone which he transformed into an origami frog.
Trivia
- He was first introduced as being 2 years old, but his age was later retconned to 9.
- He is the second introduced cross-dressing character in the series, the first being Part VII's Hot Pants.
- As Tsurugi has a odd fascination with origami and has a Stand ability related to it, he could be compared to (or possibly considered the SBR-universe-counterpart of) Terunosuke Miyamoto of Part IV; given that his Stand would seal targets into a pieces of paper.
