Jack the Ripper and Zeppeli the Strange (story arc)
Jack the Ripper and Zeppeli the Eccentric (切り裂きジャックと奇人ツェペリ, Kirisaki Jakku to Kijin Tseperi) is the fifth story arc in Phantom Blood.
Summary
As Jonathan recovers from his wounds and meets Erina Pendleton again, Dio has survived and regains his strength, gathering evil minions to serve him as zombies, first of all Jack the Ripper. One day Jonathan meet Will A. Zeppeli, an Italian Sendo practitioner who heals Jonathan completely. Sensing talent in Jonathan, Zeppeli trains him in the use of the Ripple, an energy harnessed through proper breathing which can defeat Vampires and Zombies due to its likeness to sunlight. Zeppeli also informs Jonathan that Dio has survived and that Zeppeli's father was the one responsible for uncovering the Stone Mask. Dio still has the Stone Mask and it is their duty to stop the rampage this artifact causes. After a week of training, Jonathan proves his ability by mutilating the zombified Wang Chen. Jonathan, his master Will A. Zeppeli and his friend Robert E. O. Speedwagon depart to Windknight's Lot where Dio has made his lair. As they cross a tunnel leading to the town, they are ambushed by Jack the Ripper. After a brief fight Jack escapes into a labyrinth of tunnels; Zeppeli then instructs Jonathan to go fight him and gives his a cup full of wine.
