Dolce (ドルチ, Doruchi) is a character featured in the one-shot, Dolce and His Master.

Appearance/Personality

At first, Dolce's demeanor and actions suggest him to be a normal cat; typical mundane behavior, blank expressions, and according to Masago Ayashi, sleeps for at least 16 hours a day. However, as the as the story progressed and his primal need for food comes to light, he reveals advanced intelligence and human characteristics, including the ability to talk.

Synopsis

Ayashi had presumably found Dolce in a alley well before the events of the story. After moving in with him, Dolce seemed to be well cared for.

Dolce and His Master

After Ayashi decides to take him and attractive girl on a yacht ride, they end up crashing into a rock and get stranded in the middle of the ocean. Six days later, the girl had already died from the impact and Dolce is chasing flies on her corpse. He spots a bottle of mineral water and manages to puncture it with his claws and drinks the contents. Meanwhile, Ayashi is busy mourning within the cabin and grabs Dolce to comfort himself. After Ayashi dresses Dolce in a costume, the cat finds a piece of candy in between the cushions of the seats. The two both end up wanting it, so after playing a game of dice to determine who would get the candy, Ayashi decides to eat it anyways. Before he can do so, Dolce quickly grabs the candy from his hand and eats it himself.

Ayashi chases Dolce outside and corners him onto the mass of the ship. He leaves after awhile, and Dolce climbs back down only to be suprise attacked by Ayashi and gets a rope wrapped around his neck. Hunger crazed, Ayashi attempts to eat the cat, but Dolce suddenly begins speaking to him in human dialect, saying that he'd allow Ayashi to eat him. Dolce jumps into Ayashi's mouth and promptly destroys his throat from the inside. Ayashi staggers backwards, and falls into the water, where his corpse is devoured by the surrounding sharks.

Later on, a rescue helicopter arrives at the scene, but there appears to be no one on the yacht. A flock of seagulls flies by, and one of the pilots sees Dolce riding one of the birds into the distance.

Trivia

  • Dolce's case is similar to that of part 3's Iggy, having altered in personality and intelligence abruptly towards the end of the story. Additionally, their fur and head color patterns are similar.
