The field of nonfiction is still vastly unexplored in the world of manga today. I believe that Geniuses without Glory ought to be called a pioneer in this area, as it steadily moves forward into unexplored territory. And even though it's full of such sad stories, I think it leaves a warm feeling after reading it because, at the root of the work, Ito and Morita show a heartfelt ode to humanity. I find myself reading it over and over again.
Congratulations on your 30 years in the manga industry. Ever since your debut, I sensed a certain something in you that felt incredibly new and innovative, and that has not changed to this day. I pray that you continue to evolve and develop even further.
On the 10th anniversary of Usogui, Sako's body fat percentage also reached 10%. It's a number worth celebrating, indeed. I pray for Usogui's future prosperity.
While trying to make a perfect copy, I realized once again: while Toriyama-sensei‘s art might look like it was drawn onto a flat surface in a very simple manner, the truth is that it has an extremely precise sense of three-dimensionality to it. An amazing technique that can convey both flatness and three-dimensionality at the same time! It really is great artwork, isn’t it? I am extremely honored that I got to draw the cover to volume 33.
In my way of thinking, a hero is usually drawn as a far-off, idealistic figure. On the other hand, the heroes that Togashi-sensei draws are truly like friends right by your side. Or like a big brother who’s close to you, it’s realistic. I thought, “These are the best characters that I’ve read.” I’m filled with great pride that we were able to write within Shonen Jump during the same period. “EXHIBITION TOGASHI YOSHIHIRO -PUZZLE-”, I celebrate you from the bottom of my heart. Congratulations.
Happy birthday to Mr. Weekly Shonen Jump. I’ve known you since you were born. I’ve received a reply to my fan letter from Satoshi Ikezawa, and won a bicycle and baseball bat as prizes as well. One time, a teacher found me reading you during class, and I cried as he cruelly incinerated you. You are my life. Please continue to support me from here on out.
I imagined the gods of sports descending on Japan from a sky filled with clouds resembling turbulent waves. The compositional motif was taken from Katsushika Hokusai's print, The Great Wave off the Coast of Kanagawa. Deciding on the color of Mount Fuji was difficult, but I finally settled on a honey color.
I took on the challenge of making a perfect recreation of Napoleon. I kept the tricolor in mind when choosing the colors. Learning about historical figures through manga makes it easy to understand, doesn't it?
My editor recently scared me with a toy he called a "viper's egg." It really is scary, you know!! Also in recent news, both my sisters got married at the same time. It's so lonely for an older brother, being left behind like that...

The Hirohiko Araki JoJo Exhibition: Ripples of Adventure will be held this summer of 2018 at the National Art Center, Tokyo in Roppongi, Tokyo. It is a great honor for me to be able to unveil the culmination of JoJo's 30th anniversary in such a prestigious location. At the same time, I also feel nervous. The essence of what JoJo aims to depict is "spiritual growth" through every phenomenon in the world, and through the battles between good and evil. In this original art exhibition, the idea is for the characters and their guardian spirits to gather together at the same time and place. I am also planning to draw several new pieces for the exhibition. Please look forward to next summer.
The memory of a fighter jet pilot that was summoned by Under World. At some point in the past, the back of his jet was shot by a MiG fighter jet and a chunk of his body was also shot off. He lost control of the jet and didn't eject before the jet crashed in Florida. The remains of the pilot were never fully recovered due to being obliterated upon impact.
The memory of him and his jet was conjured by Donatello Versus to trap Jolyne. She questioned the pilot on how she can get out and he tells her about the ejection seat button and that it wouldn't work anyways.
