Your actions are meaningless to me. I've already expressed this.
—Ringo Roadagain

Mandom (マンダム, Mandamu) is the Stand of Ringo Roadagain, featured in Steel Ball Run.

Appearance

Mandom takes the shape of a head as the centre of what looks like an enlarged, wrist-based item of metallic jewellery, splitting and extending at its ends into long, flowing tendrils. Dark, its face is featureless except where patterned by a number of small spheres resembling eyes; joined by lines to form a pattern of horizontally oriented lozenges.

Its design was inspired by the "Major League Training Brace" from the Star of the Giants manga series.[2]

Ability

Mandom has no real combat ability whatsoever but rather supports Ringo during his duels. Although it could give Ringo an advantage, the gunslinger prefers to explain his power to his opponent due to his beliefs.

Time Rewind

By turning a hand on his wristwatch, Mandom will rewind time by exactly 6 seconds; returning everything to how it was 6 seconds ago.[3]

The wristwatch that Ringo wears acts as a psychological switch and is in theory unneeded to activate Mandom's power.[4] Ringo himself doesn't have to turn the hand of his watch, only that the hand is turned, thus he can shoot the hand to activate Mandom[5]. Even though the process of rewinding back 6 seconds is supposedly instant and unnoticeable according to all individuals effected, Time Reversal is represented by everything being rewound[3]. Ringo claims that he is free to rewind time by 6 seconds without limitations other than the hand[5].

Nearby individuals affected by this ability will remember the events of those rewound seconds and thus unaware victims will be disoriented. Ringo used this property to disorient Johnny, Gyro and Hot Pants in an unfamiliar forest and make them lose themselves inside it.[3] However, those prepared will, like Ringo, take advantage of the rewind to avoid attacks or set up unexpected strikes[5].

Trivia

  • Aside from the 2nd Diego Brando's THE WORLD, Mandom is the only time-manipulation Stand belonging to a minor antagonist.
  • Mandom is a Japanese brand of perfumes and deodorants. Ringo and his Stand's name are likely to be inspired by their TV commercial featuring Charles Bronson and the song "Lovers of the World";[6] named "男の世界" ("True Man's World") in its Japanese release; the lyrics of which mention "living in the world of Mandom".
