Smokey Brown

Smokey Brown is a minor ally featured in Part II: Battle Tendency.

Synopsis

Smokey first makes an appearance stealing Joseph Joestar's wallet. Shortly after having done so, however, he is accosted by New York policemen, who bully him for being African American. However, much to his surprise, he is saved by Joseph, who makes use of his ripple to bail out Smokey much in the same way that Dario Brando was bailed out of jail by George Joestar I. Smokey then expresses surprise when Joseph expresses timidity upon meeting "grandma Erina", despite having effortlessly taken care of the policemen harrassing him earlier.

Smokey is then shown in more of a background role expressing shock and surprise at Joseph's antics and the supernatural elements in their adventure, similar to Robert Edward O Speedwagon. Near the end of the arc, he is shown standing next to Speedwagon when they witness Joseph and Lisa Lisa's battle against the Pillar Men.

At the end of the story, Smokey saved money for college, in which he studied politics. He subsequently became the first African American mayor of his hometown.
