In a Silent Way is the stand of Soundman featured in Part VII: Steel Ball Run.
Appearance/Personality
In A Silent Way is a humanoid stand, decorated in reference to art and culture belonging to the indigenous peoples of the Americas, including a war bonnet and a head/face that resembles the Mosaic mask of Tezcatlipoca.
Abilities
- Sound Construct: Soundman is able to manipulate and store sound in objects or in the form of three dimensional kana. When the stored sound makes contact with another object or individual, the sound is released as an attack based on the sound (i.e. burning, cutting, stabbing). The best way to attack is through water, since sound moves faster through a liquid. The deadliest aspect of this ability is that, since some sounds are not perceivable by humans, the user can utilize these sounds to attack without the enemy even noticing.
- Sound Shield: Soundman can also use this defensively. By swinging his knife and storing the "Whoosh" sound, the kanji can deflect incoming projectiles.
- Team Attack: In conjunction with Diego Brando's Scary Monster, the kana can be turned into dinosaurs, which track down enemies while carrying the sound.
Trivia
- It is at the moment still unclear if In a Silent Way, when used in conjunction with Soundman's special running technique, allows for him to run continuously without getting tired.
- The stand's ability is similar to that of Part IV's protagonist, Koichi Hirose's stand Echoes.
