Speed King
Speed King (スピード・キング, Supīdo Kingu) is the Stand of Jobin Higashikata, featured in JoJolion.
Appearance
Speed King bares a cold, robotic appearance, it has a human like face, doning goggles with circular holes for eyes, and a flat raised surface resembling a nose. It wears a fisherman's cap with two large horns on each side of the hat resembling bicycle handles, As well as two bulbous metallic guards resting alongside its face. Speed King bares a wide mouth, often depicted screaming, though sometimes bearing gritted teeth. Much of Speed Kings body is seemingly rusted, shown by the bumps and grit throughout its body, as well as its red hue in the colored manga.
It appears to have robotic joints across its arms that are covered in mummy-like wrappings. Speed King's body becomes very skeletal and robotic below chest-level, lacking much of an abdomen and instead having metal bars and other apparatuses connecting it to its lower body.
Speed Kings initial appearance differs greatly from his appearance later on in the manga, looking much more flesh, described to look much like a mannequin or scarecrow. Speed Kings goggles are replaced by circular holes for eyes, the strings that hang from its bicycle horns are much longer, it no longer bares any wrappings along its arms and the metallic protrusions on the side of its head are drastically smaller than their appearance later on.
Abilities
Little is known about Speed King's abilities. Its heat power is redoubtable, but has a minimal range, requiring Jobin to touch his targets in order to affect them.
Speed King is shown to be physically able enough to rapidly pummel enemies,[1] but the extent of its power is still unknown.
Heat Production
Speed King has the primary ability to raise the temperature of an object or person at a single localized point, all within a short radius of about 10 centimeters.[2] Since Jobin can heat sodium chlorate enough to produce oxygen,[3] it can be inferred that it can raise the temperature to at least 300 °C.
This effect only affects objects that either Jobin or Speed King have touched in some form. He has used it to melt the wax stuffed into his beetles after brushing them with a paintbrush and has given Josuke a nosebleed simply after offering some tissues to wipe his face with, threatening him with a practical embolism should the localized heat reach any other part of his body. This power can be weaponized and used to heat people's blood vessels to render them unconscious or even kill them.[4] However, Jobin himself is immune to the heat and its harm.
The Stand also has other hidden abilities that Jobin keeps undisclosed, even to his own family.[5] Speed King's heat production is implied to simply be one application of this broader, hidden power.[6]
