The Stone Mask (3), originally The Thirst for Blood! in the WSJ release, is the tenth chapter of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure manga. It is also the tenth chapter of Phantom Blood.

Summary

The man falls down after his head is impaled by the spikes of the Stone Mask and the light completely disappears. The man appears dead, and Dio concludes that though Jonathan had poured so much research into the mask, it turned out to be simply a tool for torture and execution.

As Dio walks away, the man gets back up and attacks him from behind. Dio tries to get away from the man, who now has fangs, and retrieves his knife to defend himself. As the man reaches for him, Dio is able to dodge him and cuts his hand in half in the process; the mans hand crumples as it hits the building behind them. The wall crumbles in a large crater around where the man's hand struck. Dio is throw several meters away by the impact and his collarbone is broken; amazed at how much power the man has, as well as the fact that he does not seem to feel any pain from his injured hand. The man approaches Dio and grabs him by the throat; his fingers slip underneath his skin and begin to suck up Dio's blood. The man remarks about his newfound thirst and his face begins to transform back into what he presumably looked like when he was years younger. As the sun rises, Dio laments that it would be the last thing he would see before dying; however, as the light of the sun falls upon the transformed man, he turns to dust and Dio is saved.

Meanwhile, back at the Joestar Mansion, Jonathan has returned with the man who had sold Dio the poison. He awaits the return of his foe and adopted brother.
