Paco's Father
Paco's Father (パコの父親, Pako no Chichioya) is an unnamed tertiary character featured in the ninth part of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series, The JOJOLands. His last name is Laburantes (ラブランテス, Raburantesu) and his first name is unknown.
He is an abusive alcoholic, though his son still cares for him. After he is framed for murder, Paco ends up committing crimes and later works for Meryl Mei Qi so that he could afford a lawyer for his father.
Appearance
Paco's father is a muscular man with medium-length dark hair tied back. He has a thin, parted mustache and a goatee. He wears a sleeveless shirt with lines around the edges, paired with shorts.
Personality
Paco's father is an aggressive, irresponsible individual with a volatile temper exacerbated by his heavy drinking. He has an instable lifestyle, frequently staying out with various women, neglecting his family responsibilities, leaving a mess around the house, and drinking to the point of vomiting and passing out on the side of the road. He is violent and commits domestic abuse, beating up Paco whenever he is annoyed. Despite his negative traits and abusive nature, he shows brief moments of affection by promising to take Paco out to go fishing with him. He is seemingly a sports fan, as he is shown watching basketball.[1]
History
Paco's father immigrated from Mexico to Hawaii, where he found employment at a poultry farm. He frequently stayed with various women, returning home only to abuse his family. This abusive behavior led Paco's mother to leave home permanently, abandoning Paco to endure his father's cruelty alone.[1] At some point, he even bit off a part of Paco's left ear when Paco was a child.[2][1] Despite suffering from regular beatings, Paco deeply cared for his father. On one occasion, while assaulting Paco, his father was startled by the resilience of Paco's muscles, unknowingly witnessing Paco's Stand ability. Before passing out drunk, he would usually ask his son what day of the week it was and then wait for an answer. After Paco answered him that day, he told his son to wake up early so that they could go fishing.
Later, during Paco's first year of high school, his father was charged with murder after being accused of being in a fight while drunk. After a night of heavy drinking, Paco's father had passed out by the roadside, waking up beside the corpse of a man he did not recognize. The victim had a knife embedded in his back, covered in Paco's father's fingerprints. Facing over ten years in prison, Paco desperately sought money for his father's legal defense, needing more than $30,000 for a lawyer and insurance. To raise these funds, Paco began committing small-scale fraud, eventually getting arrested and forced to drop out of high school. Subsequently, Paco was confronted by his former principal, Meryl Mei Qi, who revealed that he and his father had been manipulated and framed by the mafia. The man found dead beside Paco's father had been a mafia associate who became troublesome, prompting the organization to orchestrate his murder and set up Paco's father as the culprit. Exploiting Paco's loyalty to his father, the mafia feigned generosity by offering to lend him money, intending to trap Paco further in their schemes. Instead, Paco accepted Meryl Mei's offer and decided to work for her.[1]
