The OVA film adaptation of Baoh the Visitor was released in late 1989 on VHS and LaserDisc, and later received a DVD release on April 2, 2003. Newly-formed Italian distributor Yamato Video would be the first to localize the OVA, releasing an Italian-dubbed VHS of the OVA on May 2, 1991 as their first product, and would later revisit the film for a DVD release in June 2003. In September 1995, Kami Kaze would follow suit with a French-dubbed VHS of their own, though no DVD re-release would surface. AnimEigo finally picked up the film for English distribution in 1995, releasing separate subbed and dubbed VHS releases on May 24 of that year, as well as a LaserDisc containing both two weeks afterward. A February 2002 DVD release would follow. In September 2000, German publisher OVA Films also released the film on VHS, but in the original Japanese language with subtitles; a DVD double feature with Yoma: Curse of the Undead released on July 7 of the following year, becoming both the film's first DVD release and its only known DVD release in Germany.
The JoJo's Bizarre Adventure OVA series produced by Studio A.P.P.P. features 13 episodes in total: the first six-episode series was released from 1993 to 1994, while a prequel seven-episode series was released from 2000 to 2002. Both series were planned to be released in chronological order in North America by A.P.P.P. subsidiary Super Techno Arts; despite numerous delays before and during publication, the English dub of the series was eventually released on six DVD volumes from 2003 to 2005. A box set of the complete series in French was released by Déclic Images in 2003. The series was also released in Italian by Yamato Video from 2004 to 2006. The series would receive box-set re-releases in all regions except the U.S., with the latest French release occurring even after the decision was made to indefinitely halt Japanese and English distribution of the series.
The first episode of David Production's Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan OVA, adapting Episode 5: Millionaire Village, was distributed on September 20, 2017 to applicants who had purchased the entirety of the Diamond is Unbreakable Blu-ray/DVD set. A second episode adapting Episode 2: Mutsu-kabe Hill was bundled with the second volume of the Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan manga, which released on July 19, 2018. On March 25, 2020, two more episodes adapting Episode 9: The Run and Episode 16: At a Confessional were released on Blu-ray and DVD,[1] alongside a collector's edition including all four episodes on Blu-ray with an additional booklet. VIZ Media would later bring the collector's edition to America on July 18, 2023.
