Reception

Due to negative reaction from fans and Hirohiko Araki himself, the film was never released on any home video format.

No official information was announced regarding the reason as to why the film was dropped. However many fans who saw the film have noted their opinion as to why the film was so poorly done. The main reasons include:

  • The character, Robert Edward O Speedwagon, one of Araki's favorite characters, was almost removed from the story entirely, appearing only during the Ogre Street battle.
  • The characters Poco, Dire, and Straizo were also not featured. Naturally, this means that Dire does not throw the hamon rose.
  • The concept of Hamon was not explained clearly.
  • The movie was too short (Approx. 90 minutes), condensed, and basically "destroyed the original story".
