Chapter 38
Summary
When Dio sees Jonathan he realizes that Tarkus and Bruford have failed their tasks. Given this new opportunity, several of the surrounding zombies jump at the chance to kill Jonathan and please their master. However, Dio stops them says he would like to be the one to beat Jonathan himself. Jonathan goes to engage Dio but then Dire stops him saying that he wants his revenge first saying that he knew Zeppeli for longer. Dire then approached Dio ready to fight ignoring Jonathan's warning about Dio's secret ability.
Dire then uses his signature attack, which goes smoothly until Dire’s second attack at which Dio freezes Dire’s body almost entirely before it can connect. Taunting Dire, afterwards Dio then shatters his body into hundreds of tiny ice shards! Dio then tells Jonathan that he will kill him next when a rose strikes him in the eye, the rose coming from Dire's severed head, which conveniently landed in a pot of roses. Dio then smashes Dire's head in anger at the scar he gave him.
