There was a dispute between the Howlers and the government representative [[Monte Brutto]]. Monte Brutto argued that the Howler family's ownership of their land was legally dubious because it was made through a verbal agreement before Hawaii was annexed by the United States, and that notably the water source situated on the land should be under state jurisdiction. Monte Brutto had ties to the [[Hawaiian Mafia|mafia in Hawaii]] and it was them who set fire to the Howler family's property. Howler retaliated by assassinating Monte Brutto. He drove slowly in a truck in front of Monte Brutto's car. When Monte Brutto ordered his driver to overtake the truck, Howler shot him through the cheek as their vehicles were beside each other. As Monte Brutto's car flipped over, Howler apologized to the driver since he wasn't involved with Monte Brutto's schemes, but protecting his ancestor [[Latrato]]'s land took precedence. He then grabbed a rock and killed the driver with it.

Howler eventually regained his wealth by selling a {{W|Tintoretto}} painting worth 70 million dollars and other valuable treasures that his family collected over the years. Thanks to the [[Lava Rock]] stored in the family's box along with the valuables, all of them eventually returned back to the box, with the Tintoretto painting bouncing around for over 10 years. One day, Howler called his young grandson, [[Acca Howler]], to his side to watch TV with him. He showed Acca a deed of their land, which he took the opportunity to make to have a legal basis on the ownership of the farmland.
