Chapter 39
Blood Battle! JoJo vs. Dio (Fire and Ice, Jonathan and Dio - Part 1 in the JoJonium release) is the thirty-ninth chapter of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure manga. It is also the thirty-ninth chapter of Part I: Phantom Blood.
Summary
After Dires attack Jonathan realizes something, so he asks Speedwagon to hand him “Luck and Pluck” which he does. After getting the sword, Jonathan infuses it with the Ripple intending to attack Dio with ripple energy immediately without the possibility of Dio countering with his freezeing technique. Dio though starts rageing mindlessly about the Ripple and Jonahtans arrogance heartlessly revealing his true self.
Elsewhere though Poco and his sister are about to be killed by four zombies when Straizo comes to their aid. At this, the zombies all turn their attention towards him and they all introduce themselves as Page, Jones, Plant, and Bornnam respectively. After they introduce themselves, however they all use the “Blood Vessel Needle Attack” which Straizo simply dodges by jumping into the air. Next, he makes a chandelier fall on top of all of them trapping them. Then he comes down on top of the chandelier and sends a ripple through it, melting all of them.
Back with the fight with Jonathan and Dio the two of them stand evenly matched. Dio then leaps at Jonathan who throws several Ripple roses at Dio, but Dio simply blocks all of them. However, because of this Jonathan gets the opportunity to get to Dios right side, which is his only blind spot because of his wound from Dire. Jonathan then slices Dio's arm off with his sword and cuts Dio straight down through his head.
Speedwagon thinks Dio dead from this but Dio speaks up disproving him as he has frozen Jonathans sword. Dio then shoves his hand into Jonathan’s neck and begins to drain his blood…
