The Coming of Dio is the first chapter of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure manga.

Summary

Between the 12th and 16th century, An Aztec ritual takes place in Mexico. A man wearing a stone mask sacrifices a woung woman, in which her blood spills onto the mask and tentacles sprout from the mask onto the man's head. He screams to audience that he's claimed eternal life and soon sacrifices a man close to him.

In the year 1880, a thief name Dario Brando, on his death bed, tells his son Dio of a debt that a man owed him. Back in 1868, a carriage accident had occured which had been carrying a couple and their baby son. Dario and his wife see the crash and Dario decides to steal whatever valuables there are from the corpses. A nobleman named George Joestar had survived the crash and thought that Dario had tried to save him. George is given the information that, while his wife is dead, his son had survived. George offers him a reward for his help. Back to the present time, Dario tells Dio to go to the Joestar House to pay the debt. Not long afterwards, Dario dies and is buried. As a goodbye, Dio spits on his father's grave.

In another area, two kids are bullying a small girl, named Erina Pendleton by taking her doll but a young boy, named Jonathan Joestar, intervenes and helps the girl. While he does get beat up by the bullies, he's able to get the doll back.

Soon after, Dio arrives at the mansion and Jonathan meets himself. Jonathan's dog, Danny, calms running towards Jonathan but, without a thought, Dio knees Danny in the jaw. Jonathan's becomes enraged and says that it was too much. Dio then thinks to himself that he now must destroy Jonathan mentally in order to gain the Joestar's wealth.
