Leo (レオ, Reo) is a tertiary character featured in the ninth part of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series, The JOJOLands.
Appearance
Leo is a man with a distinctive haircut[2]
Personality
Leo initially appears as an eccentric, loud, and talkative customer of Diamotch. He is prone to laughing heartily, often at his own statements.[3][4]
The girl initially presents herself as kind and caring to Dragona, offering them encouragement and support during gym class. However, this facade quickly fades after Dragona accidentally hits her face with a volleyball, revealing her violent personality and deep-seated hatred toward Dragona.[1]
During school, she repeatedly intimidates and abuses Dragona, both physically and emotionally, due to the latter's weak and girlish mannerisms. This culminates with her ganging up on Dragona on the bus, sexually assaulting them and making derogatory comments about their body, questioning their gender. She even goes as far as to attempt to humiliate Dragona by undressing them in front of their classmates, chastising Dragona for not wearing a bra and attempting to emasculate them by "drawing" one on them using an eyelash curler.[1]
Despite her abhorrent behavior, she seems to be well-liked by her peers and seemingly even the school faculty, likely due in part to her family's wealth and their donations to the school.
History
As Dragona and Usagi decide to leave Diamotch, Dragona speculates wistfully about the $80,000 watch returning to them in the future through the power of the Lava Rock.[5] Unbeknownst to them, Leo buys the watch from Diamotch for his girlfriend.
Usagi and Dragona meet with Paco and Jodio outside, who begin to tell them about the enemy stand user attacking them. As they do, they overhear a couple exiting Diamotch together with their arms around eachother. Leo's girlfriend gushes over the $80,000 watch she is wearing, thanking Leo for gifting it to her. Leo joins in, complementing the watch, laughing, and further complementing how it looks on his girlfriend's “dazzling” skin.[2]. The woman grabs Leo and flatters him back, calling him her “dazzling angel from the heavens”, and gives him a kiss.[6]
Dragona observes, commenting frustratedly that Leo's girlfriend must have had Leo buy it for her. But Usagi interrupts, saying that this development is the watch in the process of making a supernatural path back to the lava rock owner, to which they both become giddy with excitement.[6]
Leo and his girlfriend, arm in arm, begin to stroll into the food court outside Diamotch and sit down at a table together. The woman asks Leo to apply sunscreen for her, claiming she cannot do it herself because they need to protect her watch. Leo accepts eagerly. He begins rubbing the palms of his hands with sunscreen, getting close, and applying it to her back. Meanwhile, she lies restfully, as if asleep, over the back of her chair.[7]
Dragona, who is watching from a distance, begins to become irate. They complain about Leo and his girlfriend's treatment of the $80,000 watch; complaining about the neglectful way they placed it on a napkin alongside food scraps of french fries they ate, and orange sauce they wiped from their mouths. Dragona continues to complain about contamination of the watch as a crowd of birds gather around Leo and his girlfriend. Birds land on the table beside them, pecking around the watch and eating food crumbs. [8]
Leo continues to apply sunscreen to his lover. As they do, a bird swoops down and steals the $80,000 watch off of the dirty napkin, lifting it into the sky. Dragona sees and begins to get excited, assuming the watch is about to return to the lava rock, as the bird carries the watch towards them.[9]
As this is happening, Leo notices the watch, which was camouflaged so as to appear invisible up until this point, becomes visible on his girlfriend’s wrist. The enemy stand user reveals themself to have fabricated the image of the $80,000 watch and birds carrying it to get close to Dragona undetected, and proceeds to stab them , take the lava rock, and flee.[10] Some distance away, Leo does not notice this development. He goes on to finish applying sunscreen to his lover, and she takes a turn applying sunscreen to him, before they leave.[4]
A short time later, Team Jodio follow a trail of the enemy stand user's blood towards a car park, leading them to Leo's sports car. As they search the area, Leo strolls up to his car with his lover’s arms around him. He yells, telling her to keep her fingers away from “weird places” on his “ass”, and then laughs. The woman responds affectionately, reminding him that she needed to apply sunscreen there, and that she needed to be thorough to prevent his skin from getting blotchy. She also reminds him that it is time for him to take her snorkelling.[4]
Leo and his girlfriend get into the car. As Leo retracts the car roof, he yells out at Team Jodio, irritatedly reprimanding them for blocking his exit from the car park. He begins to insult them, asking if they are going to “continue looking at the clouds all day or what?”[4]
Leo watches as Jodio, Dragona, and Usagi continue to search in front of his car. This sends him into a fury, yelling at them to get out of the way and calling them “morons”. Abruptly, Paco grabs Leo's neck, choking him in his fist. Leo's eyes roll back into his head, and he begins to froth at the mouth and sputter. Paco sarcastically inquires as to what he is saying about his throat, still choking him. He finds Leo's beard peculiar, as well as notes his skin being sticky with sunscreen.[11]
Still searching for the invisible enemy stand user, Paco instructs Leo to open the door and stick his ankles outside the car, as well as for his girlfriend to do the same. However, as Jodio opens the car door on her side of the car, he notices a material reminiscent of the enemy stand user's crumbling skin. The enemy subsequently removes his camouflage, revealing himself to have been hiding invisibly, having fused with the car door.[12]
They begin to trade blows around the car door beside Leo's girlfriend, narrowly missing injuring her. The enemy stand user misses a blow, and smashes the car window with his blade. Leo clutches his girlfriend, clambers across the seats, and screams, “Hey asshole kid!” at Jodio, demanding to know what he is doing to his girlfriend and car window. [13]
Jodio begins to notice that Leo had just momentarily distracted them from the enemy stand user, who re-camouflaged and fled, causing Jodio to yell out in frustration. Leo points at Team Jodio, calling them “shitty brats” and accusing them of assaulting his girlfriend. Paco retorts, threatening him, and ordering him to shut up and get lost.[14]
Stood outside the car, the $80,000 watch from earlier slips off of the wrist of Leo's girlfriend. They both try to pick it up, but end up seemingly accidentally kicking it. Dragona realises that the watch could be trying to return to the lava rock, which is in the possession of the enemy stand user. Leo exasperatedly clambers on the floor trying to pick up the watch to no avail. He complains, once again mentioning its $80,000 price tag, and asking how they are kicking it away, confused. Dragona observes that it is rolling in the direction of the beach towards the enemy stand user, and pulls out the diamond from the heist, which rolls in the same way.[15]
Later, a sleeping fisherman wakes up abruptly as they feel a tug on their fishing line. To their surprise, they reel in a Hawaiian sea bass holding the $80,000 watch in its mouth.[16]
Meanwhile, Leo has continued chasing the $80,000 watch, and is clambering along the shore in shallow water trying to find where it is. Leo's girlfriend, who is standing up at the entrance from the carpark to the beach, watches upset. She shouts at Leo about finding it, and begins to call him an idiot, to which Leo nervously rebukes her, telling her not to call her an idiot and reminding her that he bought the watch. Leo's girlfriend responds by stating that he is an idiot, pointing out, “who the hell kicks a luxury watch into the ocean? And you can bet it wasn’t water-proof.” Looking uncomfortable, Leo's girlfriend turns her back, excuses herself by stating she feels suddenly chilly, and strolls back into the car park, mentioning that she will find a car ride with somebody else. Leo is left spluttering in disbelief.[17]
