Chapter 52
Summary
After the ripple made contact with Straizo's face, Joseph's punch sends him flying off the side of the bridge. Straizo attempts to grab on to the ledge and fails, but Joseph quickly grabs his arm and holds him mid-air. Straizo asks why Joseph saves him, despite having enough power to blow his right arm off. Joseph threatens him, saying he'd still be able to handle Straizo even with 1 hand and then questions Straizo as to why he didn't give Speedwagon a proper burial and instead threw his body into the river. Straizo explains that in the cave, the group had found a Man infused into a Pillar. The Pillar had been apparently absorbing blood from the bodies, so he only found it necessary to prevent his awakening by disposing of them. Suddenly, Straizo uses the ripple in an attempt to commit suicide, as his vampire body is not able to withstand it. He mentions that he had no regrets, having rather gone to hell with his youth than aged pathetically. Straizo then explodes and Joseph cries out in distress.
Meanwhile in a Nazi Base in Mexico, a man by the name of Major Stroheim is getting a shave done by presumably 2 female servants. A solider enters the room and announces that they had found an old man in the river, and with his regained consciousness, they were going to attempt to get information out of him regarding the whereabouts of the ruins. The old man is none other than Speedwagon.
Back in New York, Joseph takes a look at the lady's mouth of whom Straizo ripped a tooth from. Joseph mentions that there appears to be a lot of cavities, which earns him a punch in the face. The lady is furious because Joseph had insulted her back when she was being held hostage by Straizo. After getting kicked again by the women, Joseph decides to head to Mexico to visit this Man in the Pillar.
