Chapter 140
The Emperor and the Hanged Man (1) is the one-hundred-fortieth chapter of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure manga. It is also the twenty-seventh chapter of Part III: Stardust Crusaders.
Summary
The group is finally crossing India, but are worried about the place, known for having beggars, thieves, curry-eating and disease-ridden people. Mohammed Avdol ensures them that it is a nice country and all these stories are false, but the group is surprised to see that all of these stories were actually true: Jean Pierre Polnareff steps in cow´s feces; Noriaki Kakyoin´s wallet is stolen and Joseph Joestar´s taxi stops in the middle of the road because of a napping cow, which is considered a holy animal in India. Avdol, however, doesn´t see a problem in anything and tells them its a beautiful country, you only have to get used to it, at which Jotaro Kujo agrees. Polnareff goes to the bathroom and is given a stick to use. Confused as to why he would need one, he finds a pig sticking its head out of the toilet. One of the employers at the local informs Polnareff that the bathroom´s design was made wrong, with a pig stein right underneath it. He then shows how Polnareff should use to stick: He hits the pig multiple times and then informs Polnareff that his boss says that the pigs can even clean him if he lets them lick his ass. Disgusted, Polnareff decides to hold still until they get to the hotel. When looking at the mirror, Polnareff is surprised by a Hanged Manstand with two right hands that he can only see in the mirror. Determined to avenge his sister, killed by the user of this stand, Polnareff breaks the mirror and searches for the stand user among the crowd.
