The dirt fragments can amass together in a way that screws up my perception of how far away they are.

Bigmouth Strikes Again (ビッグマウス・ストライクス・アゲイン, Biggumausu Sutoraikusu Agein) is the Stand of Charming Man, featured in the ninth part of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series, The JOJOLands.

It allows Charming Man's skin to crumble like sand, pile up to disguise himself as another person, or blend into the environment.

Appearance

Bigmouth Strikes Again is an integrated ability that affects Charming Man's body, giving his skin a rough, sand-like texture. His skin can float around him when he is using his powers, appearing like small sand and rock fragments. When it transforms Charming Man to resemble Paco Laburantes, the real Paco notes that the fragments have different colors.[1]

Abilities

Skin Dispersion

Charming Man scouts inside Usagi's body with his eyeball

Bigmouth Strikes Again allows Charming Man's sand-like skin to move around him, crumbling into particles like puzzle pieces.[2] This makes him capable of dispersing pieces of his body to evade injuries,[3] or pinning down enemies like Bags Groove and pulling them away using the skin particles.[4] He can even detach body parts like his eyeball and then disperse it into small particles to scout remotely. For example, he has his eyeball crumble into a straw to enter Usagi Alohaoe's body, and then has it regain its shape so he could search within the body for investigative purposes.[4]

The effective range of his skin is a little over ten centimeters from the surface of his body, revolving around him like a satellite.[2] However, his Stand is still capable of moving further than that, as Charming Man's eyeball travels deep inside Usagi's body.[4]

Charming Man's skin can also pile up to disguise himself as another person.[5][2] His transformation is visibly perfect; when he attacks Jodio Joestar while disguised as Paco, Jodio only discovers something is amiss when the real Paco arrives behind him.[5]

Active Camouflage

Blending in with his surroundings

In addition, Bigmouth Strikes Again is capable of manipulating the perception of light reflection.[2] It can effectively make Charming Man become invisible by camouflaging himself into his surroundings, or confuse people's perceptions of what they are seeing.[1] He can use his skin on other objects to produce illusions and make them appear completely different, such as when he tricks Jodio into thinking three potatoes are the decapitated heads of Wild Cat Size.[6] He also fools Dragona Joestar into thinking a bird stole a watch that Dragona wanted, with the illusion only breaking when Dragona physically makes contact with what they think is the watch.[1]

When used to camouflage with the environment, the Stand perfectly replicates whatever is behind Charming Man with respect to the line of sight of those looking at him. Upon emerging from the camouflage, it is as if he appears out of nowhere, with parts of his body appearing to be fused to different parts of the scenery at vastly different distances, even the clouds far in the sky;[1] it almost makes him appear as a figure in a cubist painting. Charming Man can selectively choose how much of his body is camouflaged in this nature, using it to attempt a sneak attack on Paco by hiding his knife-wielding arm in plain sight.[1]

Bigmouth Strikes Again still retains its sandy texture on objects he has extended the camouflage onto, as evidenced when Jodio feels the sand on Leo's car door, which Charming Man was blending in with.[6]

Trivia

  • On December 24, 2023, Hirohiko Araki appeared on the "Viewing Tips: Cubism" episode of the NHK program Sunday Art Museum (日曜美術館), where he showcased art of Bigmouth Strikes Again from the most recent chapter at the time. Araki described the Stand's ability as allowing its user to "transform into the sky", and that he was a bit influenced by the Cubism style but it wasn't intentional. He also stated that it's difficult to draw the user blending in with the clouds.[7]
