Fanon Contests
Prior to Greg Farshtey, the writer for most of the books and web serials, leaving LEGO in 2022, TTV hosted a number of Canon Contests for characters with no canon visual depictions, where the winners would be officially canonized by Greg. Greg left LEGO during the preparations for the Toa Tuyet contest when many of the potential participants already completed their entries. The Toa Tuyet contest ended up being hosted by DuckBricks as the first of the unofficial Fanon Contests. Despite being non-canon this page uses the winning entries of the Fanon Contests due to the lack of any visual representation of some characters.

Mata Nui is a being whose body contains the entirety of the Matoran Universe. He was designed by the Great Beings to explore alien worlds and find a way to restore Spherus Magna.
Energized Protodermis is a sapient substance originating from the planet Spherus Magna. The substance has the ability to either destroy or transform any being that comes into contact with it.
Artakha is a powerful craftsman who rules over the legendary island of Artakha, a home to the Universe's best Matoran crafters and the location where many valuable artifacts were made.
Karzahni is a ruler of the island of Karzahni. Originally meant to repair broken Matoran, Karzahni went mad and began disfiguring and enslaving the Matoran that were sent to him.
Irnakk is a monstrous figure in Skakdi mythology temporarily made real when the Piraka entered the Zone of Nightmares on their way to the Chamber of Life.
Tren Krom is a powerful fully organic being created by the Great Beings to run the Matoran Universe during the construction of the Great Spirit Robot.
Annona is an ancient entity predating even the Great Beings. She feeds on dreams of other beings which once resulted in the Dreaming Plague that decimated the Iron Tribe.
Marendar is a living weapon created by the Great Beings to eliminate the Toa in case they were to pose a threat to the inhabitants of Spherus Magna.

Toa are a species that protect Mata Nui and the inhabitants of the Matoran Universe. Almost all Toa are transformed from the destined Matoran; when their destiny is fulfilled, they transform into Turaga.

Toa Mata/Toa Nuva
Toa Mata are a team of Toa created on Artahka to awaken Mata Nui in case he were to fall asleep. They were put in stasis inside of Toa Canisters to be deployed when needed. After the Great Cataclysm the canisters were launched to the surface of Aqua Magna where thay malfunctioned and were left to drift the ocean for a thousand years. By the time they arrived at the island of Mata Nui, the Toa lost all their memories and had to be trained by the local Turaga, the former Toa Metru.
They were transformed into the Toa Nuva after being submerged into a pool of Energized Protodermis. After tranforming into a Toa of light, Takanuva became an honorary member of the team. After completing the Scroll of Preparations, the six Toa Nuva recieved Adaptive Armor from Artakha and were sent to Karda Nui where they would awake the Great Spirit.

Toa Hagah
Toa Hagah are a team of Toa that served as bodyguards to Makuta Teridax. They rebelled after discovering that the Brotherhood of Makuta had stolen the Kanohi Avohkii in order to prevent the coming of the Toa of Light. While attempting to retrieve the mask, the six Toa were mutated by Roodaka, becoming the Rahaga.
As Rahaga, they mentored the recently mutated Toa Hordika and helped them retrieve the Matoran spheres as well as reverse their mutations. While on Xia, they encountered Roodaka captured by the Toa Nuva. Although they refused any help, Roodaka reversed their mutations, turning them back into Toa Hagah.

Toa Mangai were a Toa team formed to protect Metru Nui against the Kanohi Dragon unleashed on the city by the Dark Hunters. They played a major role in the Toa-Dark Hunter War. Over time, most of the members of the team went rogue or were killed when Teridax disguised as Turaga Dume took over Metru Nui. with Lhikan remaining as the only Toa of Metru Nui.
