English Translation

Der Mensch ist böse (x2)
Man is evil (x2)
Der Mensch ist böse
Man is evil
Der Mensch muss besser und böser werden
Man must become better and eviler
Der Mensch ist böse.
Man is evil
Der Mensch muss besser und böser werden
Man must become better and eviler
So lehre ich
So do I teach
Also to the good, a noble one standeth in the way
and even when they call him a good man,
they want thereby to put him aside
Also to the good, a noble one standeth in the way
and even when they call him a good man,
they want thereby to put him aside
Der Mensch muss besser und böser werden
Man must become better and eviler
Der Mensch muss besser und böser werden
Man must become better and eviler
Der Mensch muss besser und böser werden
Man must become better and eviler

Trivia
- The lyrics of the song are pulled from chapters of Thus Spoke Zarathustra: A Book for All and None, a philosophical novel by German philosopher, Friedrich Nietzsche, inventor of the Übermensch.
- The concept of the Übermensch coincides with the ideology of the Nazi's in the series, and is mentioned by Stroheim when revealing his gatling gun in Episode 19. Although Nietzsche himself was a fierce opponent of the Nazi party, some of them were moved by his work without being "converted", as it was probably the case of Stroheim.
- The given English translation of the lyrics here are taken from Thomas Common's translation of said book.
