Heritage for the Future (Arcade/PS1/Dreamcast)

JotaroHeritage.gif

Jotaro Kujo appears as a fighter in Heritage for the Future, wielding his infamous Stand, Star Platinum.

This is the only official JoJo game to feature Kiyoyuki Yanada as Jotaro's voice actor, who would be replaced by Daisuke Ono in the future. As this game was released before the Stardust Crusaders anime, the colors for both Jotaro and Star Platinum are originals, the same color scheme that would be used for the future 'All-Star Battle'.

  • Color Stand resembles Jotaro on the cover of Volume 26.

Moveset and Gameplay

Jotaro thrives on offense-oriented gameplay, more on poking the enemy until they budge. Jotaro players are generally known to be very pesky and can push the fight to either side of the field in a short amount of time. This is due to their nature of gameplay prioritizing offense over defense, mostly to take advantage of the strength from his Blazing Fists special.

Due to his Blazing Fists (Stand Off) and ability to attack while Star Platinum performs a move, he is a lot more effective with Stand Off. This, in turn, increases the hits and the damage in comparison to attacks with Stand On.

Blazing Fists (Stand Off)
ASBDPad2.pngASBDPad3.pngASBDPad6.png + ASBL.png/ASBM.png/ASBH.png

Star Platinum is summoned and deals a barrage of punches forward of Jotaro while yelling "Ora!"s. Depending on which of the Light, Medium or Heavy buttons are pressed, Star Platinum will travel a longer distance while performing the attack.

Jotaro is free to move during the barrage, allowing other Stand-less attacks to be performed.

STAND

ASBDPad2.pngASBDPad3.pngASBDPad6.png + ASBL.png/ASBM.png/ASBH.png

Similar to the Stand Off version, Star Platinum performs a barrage of punches while Jotaro follows behind. Additionally, the move does a very high amount of Stand Gauge damage.

Blazing Strike (Stand Off)
ASBDPad2.pngASBDPad1.pngASBDPad4.png + ASBL.png/ASBM.png/ASBH.png

Star Platinum is summoned and performs a single powerful strike. Depending on which of the Light, Medium or Heavy buttons are pressed, Star Platinum will cover a longer distance, but the move will also come out slower.

Jotaro is free to move during the attack, allowing other Stand-less attacks to be performed.

Blazing Strike (Stand On)

Star Finger (Stand Off)
ON GROUND ASBDPad6.pngASBDPad2.pngASBDPad3.png + ASBL.png/ASBM.png/ASBH.png

Star Platinum is summoned, and after a short charge, extends its finger forward. It then recoils its finger, dragging caught opponents towards itself which can be capitalized on for further offense. This move can be held in order to extend its duration.

Jotaro is free to move during the attack, allowing other Stand-less attacks to be performed.

Supers
Jaguar Varied Assault (Stand Off)
ASBDPad2.pngASBDPad3.pngASBDPad6.pngASBL.pngASBL.png

Essentially a longer version of the Blazing Fists special, Jotaro points his finger forward while Star Platinum summons and attacks with a barrage of "Ora!" punches. The last hit will launch the opponent, although a well-timed input can overwrite this property, allowing combo potential.

Jaguar Varied Assault (Stand On)
STAND

ASBDPad2.pngASBDPad3.pngASBDPad6.pngASBL.pngASBL.png

This version of the move does not last as long as the Stand Off version, but still does high damage, with the final hit dealing the most damage and launching the opponent.

Star Breaker (Stand Off)
ASBDPad2.pngASBDPad1.pngASBDPad4.pngASBL.pngASBL.png

Star Platinum summons and charges up its fist for a powerful blow that will cause a Stand Crash if successfully connected.

Star Breaker can connect from a normal attack, whether from Jotaro himself or from his Stand, but its Stand Off is not very strong.

Star Breaker (Stand On)
STAND ASBDPad2.pngASBDPad1.pngASBDPad4.pngASBL.pngASBL.png

This version of the super comes out slightly slower. Furthermore, Jotaro cannot move while charging the attack.

This Stand On version can be charged until it becomes unblockable, but this takes too much charging time to be very effective in a real match.

Tandem Attack
ASBDPad2.pngASBDPad1.pngASBDPad4.pngASBS.png

Jotaro poses by pointing forward and enters an 80 frames long "Super Flash". During this time, button combinations can be inputted for Star Platinum to execute once the 80 frames end. However, the S button can be held after the 80 frames freeze for additional frames, although this lowers your Stand Bar Meter fast and will no longer provide more time once empty.

Furthermore, when released, Jotaro has a small period of invincibility, and Star Platinum will rush out and do the inputs pressed during the "Super Flash". Star Platinum is able to do any Stand On Normals, as well as Specials and Supers.

Star Platinum: The World
ASBDPad6.pngBAASBDPad6.pngASBS.png

This Super requires at least 3 stocks of Super Meter to be used. After a considerably long startup, Star Platinum freezes time, allowing Jotaro to freely move and attack until the meter runs out.

During Time Stop, all damage dealt to opponents is reduced. Still, the opponent's inability to defend themselves leaves them open to good damage potential.

Jotaro's Time Stop isn't as powerful as DIO's, and with the attack speed from Puttsun Ora, players are often forced to perform the move before the super meter is depleted of one level during stopped time. If Star Platinum is not deployed while attacking, using inactive versions of its attacks, the Time Stop will also dismiss even if the Stand is still attacking, as opposed to DIO's who will only dismiss the Time Stop after the attack.

Furthermore, Jotaro can usurp DIO's Time Stop if his own Time Stop command is inputted at the right moment.

Trivia

  • Jotaro is normally the last opponent faced by the player in arcade mode when playing as a villain, if not DIO himself or even Kakyoin.
  • Jotaro, Polnareff, Joseph and New Kakyoin are the only characters whose ending in Arcade Mode matches the original story; the rest of the roster receive unique endings.
  • Jotaro has two unique lying-down sprites when he is knocked down or K.O'ed. When he is merely knocked over, he is leaning on one side of his body, slightly upright. When defeated completely, he lies flat down on the ground.
