Chapter 42
Summary
As the boat sails forth, Erina looks out to the ocean and notices a bird flying onto the edge of the ship. It had apparently gotten separated from the rest of the flock and became to cry out in distress. Another bird flies down to keep the lone bird company. Erina becomes emotional from this and runs over to Jonathan to hug him. Confused at first, Jonathan asks why she is distressed, but later realizes they were but mere tears of joy. The two decide to get something to eat and start heading down to the lower decks, but not before Jonathan hits his head on the door.
The two begin eating, and Jonathan encourages Erina to drink some wine, despite her having never drank it before. She shows a bit of discomfort after doing so, but before Jonathan could say anything he spots Wang Chan from across the room and immediately takes after him.
Elsewhere, Father Styx is seen gorging himself in alcohol and identically drops his crucifix into a metal grate nearby. He looks inside and notices it connects with the ship's hold and makes his way downstairs. He spots the cross on the same coffin that the men were taking into the ship earlier. He takes a closer look at the box and notices that is unlocked, but is instantly killed when the lock triggers and a gem flies into his head. Wang Chan comes running into the room and throws open the coffin,, revealing none other than Dio's decapitated head. Jonathan soon arrives and confronts Dio. After a speech about taking over Jonathan's body, Dio releases a space ripper beam from his eyes and tears through Jonathan's hands and straight into his neck.
