William Antonio Zeppeli is a character appearing in Part I: Phantom Blood. He is portrayed as an ally and a mentor to the protagonist. He is the first member of a line of Zeppeli who would aid the characters.
Story
Zeppeli was on a ship with a crew studying Aztec ruins when he was younger when his father put on the mask and killed everyone in the crew but his son. After this horrific event, Zeppeli travels the world in order to destroy the mask, and sees this a man cure someone using the hamon. Zeppeli is then directed to his master, Tonpeti, who teaches him to use the "hamon". However, Tompetti foresees Zeppeli's death during his training, warning him that should he complete his training he will surely die. Zeppeli doesn't share this fact until the fight with Tarkus, where he afterward gives his power to Jonathan Joestar, whom he trained after the Joestar's house burns down. His grandson is Caesar Antonio Zeppeli.

- Upon his death, Zeppeli's hat was worn by Speedwagon until the end of part 1.
