Tarkus is a fictional character from the first part of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, a vampire made from the centuries-old corpse of a powerful warrior of ancient Britain. Unlike is ally Bruford, Tarkus was a typical strongman fighter.

He and Bruford were successful in the challenge of the 77 in 1563 (two of only five challengers to succeed ever) (Chapter 28, p. 11). Together, the pair are known as "The Dark Knights" and were eventually ressurrected as vampíres by Dio Brando so that they opposed Jonathan Joestar and his allies Zeppeli and Speedwagon in Part I.

Bruford and Tarkus were members of the Tudor Dinasty (Chapter 27) and retainers of Mary Stuart. Eventually they were beheaded for their support of Mary against her rival, Elizabeth. However, the use of cruel deception to make them surrender led to a strong sense of betrayal that made them suscetible to manipulation by Dio as of their raise as vampires.

Tarkus showed little respect for Bruford after the later's defeat and rehabilitation during his battle with Jonathan Joestar. He also killed Jonathan's friend Zeppeli, but was killed by Jonathan shortly after.
